I am SO BLOODY PROUD of this I could greet! Not only was our research-based guidance included in @scotgov #infantfoodinsecurity toolkit, but it is also helping to support women & babies in @NHSForthValley!

It was great to share our research on #infantfoodinsecurity at todays @IFAN_UK @TrussellScot #CashFirstCommunities conference. It was a really interesting & uplifting event. Lots still to do but we are on the right track towards a future where food/baby banks are obsolete.
Dr Erin Williams from @feedukorg has just finished delivering a workshop on tackling infant food insecurity with cash first and wanted to share some of what was discussed and reflect on how we move forward as #CashFirstCommunities

I was happy to contribute to this excellent piece highlighting the struggle families are facing daily ⬇️ We need to keep shining a light on the reality of the #CostOfLivingCrisis & the impact of #infantfoodinsecurity
One of the most heartbreaking stories I've covered at @GlosLiveOnline as #community reporter. My report on families in the #ForestofDean who just cannot keep up with price of baby formula. cc @timgwill @FoDDC @feedukorg @DrErinWill #Gloucestershire

#HealthyStart is meant to be a nutritional safety net, enabling the most nutritionally vulnerable to eat well at a critical life stage. It’s essential it provides sufficient allowance. #InfantFoodInsecurity
📈The value of the Healthy Start scheme needs to increase by 20 per cent to compensate for increases in the cost of food, new LGA analysis has found.

Families continue to struggle in accessing critical nutrition for babies b/c of cost of living and supply problems. Excited to announce our new @SSHRC Insight Award for our project Finding Formula @AcadiaUNews #infantfoodinsecurity #firstfoodsystems @AcadiaSociology

"Nearly half of contributing organisations reported a rise in the number of parents and carers struggling to feed babies" Rising #InfantFoodInsecurity is a massive concern. > 1. The #HealthyStart scheme needs to be more inclusive, more accessible & provide a greater allowance

Once again @scotgov lead the way on policy to support families & amplifying the voices of those with lived experience of #infantfoodinsecurity We couldn’t have got here without cross sector collaboration. Thank you ScotGov for bringing us together #teamwork

Sobering piece on maternal & #infantfoodinsecurity
“For low-income mothers, breastfeeding might seem to be the most cost-effective way of feeding their infants. However, research shows that both formula and breastfeeding are unaffordable to mothers who receive welfare.”
@Food_Foundation If you consider the socioeconomic gradient in infant feeding (the fact that the most deprived women are the least likely to breastfeed & are at the same time the least able to afford formula), dietary inequalities are evident from birth #InfantFoodInsecurity @alisonthewliss
To end #infantfoodinsecurity we MUST include tailored support for food insecure #breastfeeding Mums and end #maternalfoodinsecurity. @FranklyLess’s work shows they’re less able to maintain BF than food secure Mums, & we are seeing worrying reports like that below:
Comprehensive & timely piece by @Sarah_Woolley exploring the idea of a national #infantformula Observations from @CohenJessiae & @PayzeeMalika have us wondering how current infant feeding support would have to change to accommodate this? Would BFHI survive? #infantfoodinsecurity
National Milk fed 85% of British babies in 1974. As £19 formula pushes parents to desperation, why aren’t we bringing it back? @sarah_woolley reports. https://t.co/7uA8lfF51w
A cross sectoral approach is necessary to resolving #infantfoodinsecurity & this was demonstrated by the work of @IFAN_UK & in the emergency formula provision pathways in place in @NHSTayside & @Aberdeenshire that was presented (3/)
