I recognize a pattern when I see one. I am not a member of #JamboASBL but After reading the @NewTimesRwanda article, as well as information from Jambo ASBL’s website and statements made by its members, and guided by my personal conscience and the concerns shared by many young Rwandans who seek a freer and more honest future, I believe this is wrong.
I reject a dangerous political practice in #Rwanda today: labeling anyone who questions power as an enemy, a “genocide denier,” or the criminal heir of their parents. In a country that claims to be governed by the rule of law, crime is personal, not hereditary. No one should be silenced, humiliated, or politically destroyed because of who their parents were,especially when many of those parents were never convicted by any court.
As a young Rwandan, I respect and remember the pain of 1994. Precisely because of that history, I refuse to accept its instrumentalization. Memory should protect us from repeating crimes, not be used as a political weapon to crush criticism, intimidate citizens, or shield @PaulKagame’s power from accountability.
When “national unity” is used to forbid questions, when “security” becomes an excuse to erase dissent, and when criticism is treated as betrayal, this is not unity, it is politics of fear.
I am not defending any organization, and I am not justifying any armed group or violence. But I strongly oppose replacing justice with moral accusations, and replacing debate with character assassination. This is a classic divide-and-rule strategy, and ordinary Rwandans, especially the youth,always pay the price.
To my generation, I say this:
Do not fall into the trap of “us versus them.”
Do not surrender your thinking out of fear of labels.
Do not allow our painful history to be turned into a tool against our future.
A strong Rwanda is not one without voices.
A strong Rwanda is one that is not afraid of voices.

Le 10 mai 2025, des soldats rwandais (RDF) ont effectué des bouclages brutaux dans plusieurs quartiers de Goma : Ndosho, Kyeshero, etc.
Leur cible : Toute personne présumée rwandaise — femmes, hommes, enfants, jeunes — raflés sans distinction ni preuve.
Bilan : plus de 100 personnes enlevées.
Certains ont été enrôlés de force dans le M23, pour y subir des tâches dégradantes et inhumaines. Des rôles de sous-hommes où ils finiront, pour beaucoup, exécutés.
D'autres sont portés disparus. Certains seraient déjà morts, d’autres seraient en cours de rapatriement forcé vers le Rwanda, en violation flagrante du droit international sur la protection des réfugiés.

1.On genocide denial:
Belgium funds well-known genocide denial organizations, such as CLIIR, led by Joseph Matata, and JAMBO ASBL, founded by nostalgic supporters of PARMEHUTU, including the grandchildren of Mbonyumutwa and the children of genocide perpetrators convicted by the ICTR, such as Placide Kayumba, son of Dominique Ntawukuriryayo (sentenced to 25 years in prison), and Laure Uwase, daughter of Anastase Nkundukozera (sentenced to life imprisonment by Gacaca courts). Her mother, Agnès Mukarugomwa, owns Ikondera Libre, a radio station that spreads hatred and denial. Does Mr. @prevotmaxime ignore this?
Beyond funding these denialist lobbies, Belgium has never prosecuted any genocide deniers, despite their presence on its soil, including Belgian nationals like Peter Verlinden, Father Serge Desouter, and others.
2.On respect for international law:
Belgium does not enforce UN Resolution 2150, which mandates strict measures against the FDLR. Belgium does not condemn the Tshisekedi regime for arming and collaborating with the FDLR. Like every other European state, Belgium remains silent on the use of mercenaries by the DRC, despite the fact that mercenaries are banned under the 1949 Geneva Conventions and their 1977 Additional Protocols.
3.On the rights of Congolese refugees:
Belgium remains silent on the rights of Congolese refugees who have been displaced by the FDLR since 1994 after their defeat in Rwanda. Will these refugees remain in exile forever?
