Impact factor has long been a prime metric of judging ones research achievement. But that severely disregards articles published in prestigious journals like #JChemPhys, #JCompChem, #JInorgChem, all with low IF < 4, but exhibit very robust peer review system.

Just echoing these comments. Meeting Lou as a young assistant professor I was impressed with his quiet tenor and interest in advising/mentoring young faculty. I have been honored to help continue Lou’s legacy as an EIC of the field’s founding journal #JCompChem.

Very sorry to note the passing of Lou Allinger. He was a force-field pioneer developing MM1, MMPI (early QM/MM), MM2, MM3 … A meticulous, modest scholar. Member of #NAS Founder of #JCompChem #compchem #UGA
