I guess #java10 local variable type inference (#jep286) can be pretty handy. It's a nice replacement for Pair.

I soo don't agree with var-only within #Java 10. Why not val-only, as stated in #JEP286 most local variables are either way effectively final! And this: "the types required for the mutable ones would be visually jarring" - and they should!!! Damn I'm pissed.

I don't think val or let should have a place in Java. Here's why: https://t.co/D2rvGx5Ao8

I've decided to write a blogpost about the pros and cons of JEP 286, adding var (and val) to Java: https://t.co/y3Zt6SZwQb #Java #JEP286

#JEP286 would have been nice in Java 5, but better later than never

The criticisms I see for #jep286 are exactly the same ones I saw back in 2007 when local type inference was added to C# *yawn*

Crusty old man comment: I don’t like Local Variable Type Inference. I prefer clearer code to less keystrokes. #IKnowImNotCool #JEP286 #Java

I wonder if local variable inference will squarely put Java at the forefront of functional programming. #jep286
