Indeed! But here is the question these economists conveniently refuse to confront: are they actually ready to accept that a #JobGuarantee cannot be properly understood or implemented within the constraints of mainstream economic thinking?
Are they ready to admit that taxes and government bonds do not finance the spending of a currency-issuing government? Are they ready to throw away the endless hysteria over the so-called “fiscal deficit” and finally understand what a sovereign currency issuer actually does?
Because if they aren't prepared to challenge these deeply entrenched myths, then what exactly is the value of these articles? You cannot seriously advocate a stronger Job Guarantee while simultaneously clinging to the very monetary and fiscal framework that mainstream economics uses to declare such programmes “unaffordable”!
You cannot have a Job Guarantee with one foot in operational reality and the other buried in mainstream fiscal mythology. Pick one!
But the regime wants no such scheme that makes job a right.
China uses money to mobilise resources and human labour, skills and imagination to advance human progress, enhance the environment and address the normal physical, emotional and intellectual needs of its people. Hopefully people are catching on. #MMT #LearnMMT #JobGuarantee #HG
