5yo: Mom, what did you do in hamster town?
me: Amsterdam? I was talking and learning about the things that make kids like you get so smart so fast.
5yo: you really didn't have to go all the way to hamster town, mom. I could have just told you about it.

and, then Angela Grimminger showing that robots can be part of the triadic storybook interaction - as the listener, while the *child* teaches! kids even lean in to the robot's "ears" if he's not understanding them. so cool. #JPS2018

Symposium on self-development in infancy with Lisa Jacquey, @filippetti_ml @LorijnSZ, & @carinadeklerk was the highlight of #JPS2018. The session answered and raised important questions about infant understanding of the role of contingency. Four inspiring women in science!
Fascinating study by Cintia Rodriguez at #jps2018 on how infants’ attention is very good in naturalistic book reading interactions in schools. Message was we need to have interesting & meaningful stimuli in lab studies!
Very interesting talk on the link between prospective motor control and executive functioning by @JannaGottwald #jps2018 and well done for carrying on despite technical issues!

Thanks to all who are posting from #jps2018 - from those who aren't. I'm enjoying reading about the conference.

"We look as if time scales were on their own, while all the time scales are happening now." Plenary talk by Ezequiel di Paolo @ #jps2018

Paul van Geert at #JPS2018 tells us the etymology of ‘complicated’ & ‘complex’. Complicated: like a folded shirt in a wardrobe, need to unfold it & make it simple. Complex: means interwoven as in fabric, aim is to understand!
