Educational #FreeStation dataloggers charging and ready for #EnvironmentalMonitoring with @kclgeography #KCLField trip to York this week #AirPollution #EnvironmentalNoise #Micrometeorology #Hydrology #Weather

Guess what #KCLField #BSc students are doing @FSCMalhamTarn on Friday? All packed for research project day, #EnvironmentalMonitoring day with #FreeStation #DIY sensors. A little room left for clothes and wellies!

Indeed it was quite cold, wet and windy to start with (as shown in the data collected) but the students (and staff) persevered to collect some lovely data #kclfield

Great #KCLField day at #ThamesEstuary with @London_NERC_DTP students and @kclgeography @kclgeoglabs learning about #Mudflats #Saltmarsh #Flooding #NaturalFloodManagement #LowCostSensing with #FreeStation #ConservationTech and #RenewableEnergy

#fieldworkfriday. Prof. Nick Drake sets off into the sands during our survey of ancient lakes in central Saudi Arabia in 2014.

This #fieldworkfriday is contemporary rather than prehistoric, and live from this week! Great work by 2nd year @kclgeography students in our exercise recording covid litter on Wednesday. 90 masks found, with interesting results- the 1st years are now out doing more!

Great results from the 2nd years on their mapping exercise, with 90 face masks recorded across the areas they surveyed! The 1st years are out today- let's see what they find!

That's where our @kclgeography students step in! Using a custom app and exercise developed by @Randalindsey, Christine Barnes and @Faithatron, they are out systematical recording littered masks in London.

#Fieldworkfriday- A trench with a view in Tunisia in 2019! Taken during collaborative fieldwork between @kclgeography and L'institut National du Patrimoine du Tunisie to investigate archaeological sites and their past landscapes in southern Tunisia.

Some highlights of @kclgeography #kclfield trip to Yorkshire (BSc). #NaturalFloodManagement #Beavers with @ForestryEngland, #EnvironmentalMonitoring with #Sensors in York, #Mining and #Geomorphology at @northyorkmoors and more. Great students, perfect weather, lots of fun.

#fieldworkfriday. It's always nice to head out into the desert and....escape the traffic?
An unexpected delay during our 2019 fieldwork in Riyadh Province!

Took a walk with the new #FreeStation @h2020ReSET portable GPS-enabled #air #noise #pollution sensors today. Difference in #TrafficNoise between road and coastal path clear. Built in time for students to use on #KCLField trip to #York next week!

Missed #FieldworkFriday this week, so instead here is a #SurveySaturday!
Setting up for DGPS survey of the Neolithic hearth site of ORF-2 in Northern Saudi Arabia, during our 2016 season.
@MOCHeritage @MPI_SHH @kclgeography #kclfield

Ah, the DGPS, how I've missed her... hopefully @KCLGeoglabs have been treating her well through the pandemic, from long experience I found she prefers a varied diet of car and truck batteries 😉! #fieldworkfriday! #kclfield

#FieldworkFriday...@DesertPrehistor at work in the Nefud Desert with his beloved differential GPS. Complete with large bottle of water to keep hydrated on all those long transects in the sun.

Superb sunny day for another @kclgeography #KCLField trip to #ThamesEstuary with Masters & PhD students covering #BlueCarbon #Renewables #SupplyChains #Flooding #SeaLevelRise #LowCostSensing & use of #Drones in field research

Great @kclgeography #KCLField trip to @spainsestate today. A fine day with students and colleagues learning about #NaturalFloodManagement #BeaverReintroduction #NatureFriendlyFarming & #LowCostSensing of #EcosystemServices with superb tour from @arugglesbrise

#fieldworkfriday! One of the many nice things about working in deserts. Seen many great sunsets over the years, but this one, in the Nefud, Saudi Arabia in 2013, scores towards the top of the list!
@Palaeodeserts @kclgeography #kclfield

#fieldworkfriday! Spot investigations of a palaeolake in the Nefud in 2013. Dune-bashing in 4x4's, the team explored multiple basins like this for #archaeology and environmental records.
@Palaeodeserts @kclgeography #kclfield @MOCHeritage

#FieldworkFriday! @huw_groucutt , @ashparton and Richard Jennings in 2013, planning how we'll record one of the many multipanel rock art areas at the (now) World Heritage site of Shuwaymis in Saudi Arabia.
@Palaeodeserts @MOCSaudi @kclgeography #kclfield

#fieldworkfriday. Sometimes a palaeolake deposit in the Nefud is so lovely, it just deserves a nice stroke! #notatallweird
Laminated marls at An Nasim, the Acheulean archaeological and palaeoenvironmental site we published this week.
