The cold front has arrived and it doesn’t feel like swamp! 🥳 #KCWeather
Rain is moving out of the area but there was enough to cause some water to sit on roads around the KC metro. Just give yourself some extra time on the way in to work today and be safe out there! #KCWeather
Flash Flood Warning including Overland Park KS, Kansas City KS and Olathe KS until 8:15 AM CDT

Ah, I see we are back to glasses fogging up when stepping outside/oppressive heat weather in Kansas City today. #KCWeather
We have you covered with the storm coverage tonight along with @LukeDorris and @KCTV5! #KCWeather 🌪️

Potentially 85 MPH wind gusts at the front line of the storm early this evening. 👀 Be weather aware today! #KCWeather
The chance for severe winds is significant in the general KC area this evening. Our hi-res computer forecasts have consistently shown 60-80 mph wind gusts (in focused pockets) over multiple runs. Just simulations, which are only tools for forecasting, but the signal is consistent

First time I think I’ve got this critical imminent threat alert! Tornado and hurricane winds incoming to the KC Metro area over the next 30 minutes! (And a cute faced little Brielle for good measure 🥰) #KCWeather #MVSSW

WEEKEND & MONDAY STORM UPDATES
- I’m getting a little concerned about flash flooding tonight north of KC. Some of our computer forecasts are putting out up to 6” in isolated areas. Make sure any weekend campers you know are aware
- KC is on the edge of the storm zone this afternoon/tonight. We could get clipped, but the much higher chance is north, where multiple rounds are possible through the night
- Some signs storms fire about 4 pm north of KC, could be close to metro, but our more likely time is after sunset
- Severe threat is for hail/high wind
- Sunday is largely dry for the day, but near & after sunset scattered storms
- Monday remains “the day.” High end severe weather is possible for our area, but not a guarantee. The Level 3/5 Risk Zone is large, and the worst weather likely occurs in a smaller area within the larger zone. Will it be here?
- We’ll see more clearly after we get past tonight’s storms

Another trusted local weather source! 🫡👇🏼 #KCWeather
❗ Numerous severe thunderstorms are possible across the Enhanced Risk area (Level 3 out of 5) beginning Monday afternoon and continuing into early Tuesday morning. For the Kansas City area, I’m leaning toward the risk of severe weather increasing during the evening and peaking overnight.
⏲️ The location of the surface fronts and the timing of when they move into our area are still uncertain, and their arrival will ultimately coincide with the greatest chance for severe weather locally. Right now, I’m leaning toward Monday evening and late Monday night as the time of greatest severe weather potential for the Kansas City area.
☄️💨🌪️ The primary threats will depend on storm mode: discrete, individual storms firing along the dryline versus a line of thunderstorms, such as a squall line developing along a cold front. During the afternoon and evening, individual supercell thunderstorms are most likely along the dryline, which is expected to be positioned well west of the Kansas City area. Locally, the most likely scenario is for a squall line to sweep through Monday night, with damaging winds and a few tornadoes as the primary threats. That said, day-of, storm-scale features may still affect the overall severe weather setup.
💭 Severe weather events like this one, with days of lead time, can increase anxiety, especially with so many posts and pictures bombarding you on social media. I encourage you to pick one or two sources you trust and ignore much of the rest — I hope the KMBC First Alert Weather Team is one of those sources. There is still a lot that is not locked in with this event, including storm mode, the location of the fronts, and how quickly those fronts move across the Plains and Midwest. That said, the forecast parameters are favorable for all types of severe weather.

The set up for Monday… a tale of national storm chaser vs local weatherman.
Always check out what the local meteorologists are saying when storms like these are approaching. They know the KC metro best and what to expect.

Unreal… some days with more potential than others… but KC area will be in the mix for possible severe weather for the next 6 days! Of course, most WON’T see severe weather, but always good to be aware! #KCWeather
MULTI-DAY #TORNADO OUTBREAK POSSIBLE across the Central U.S. peaking Sunday-Monday!
We have six days in a row of severe weather and tornado potential starting with a gorilla hail threat in central Kansas this evening, with the central and southern Plains to Upper Midwest having a full-blown #tornado outbreak Saturday evening through Tuesday morning.
The risk areas from the Storm Prediction Center are color coded here by day.
We are finalizing repairs on the Dominator 3 today for top tier tornado intercept mode.
Stay tuned!

Just be weather aware from tonight until next Wednesday. 👀😅 #KCWeather

Some early morning tornado warnings! Doesn’t seem like there has been an actual tornado on the ground (radar indicated) but high winds and hail have swept across the KC Metro this morning. #KCWeather
Tornado Warning including Spring Hill KS, Hillsdale KS and Wagstaff KS until 4:45 PM CDT

Massive tornadoes ripped through Oklahoma last night... luckily here in the KC area we "just" had some straight line winds and maybe a small tornado or two. Next chance for severe weather for us in the KC area will be on Sunday. #KCWeather
A powerful tornado was seen spinning near Vance Air Force Base in Oklahoma, forcing it to close on Thursday. Video shows the massive size of the twister as it moved across Enid, a city of about 50,000 people in Garfield County near the state's northern border.
The tornado ripped roofs off buildings and knocked down power poles. There were no immediate reports of fatalities and only minor injuries hours after the tornado passed through, according to the Garfield County Sheriff's Office. https://t.co/IZA1RRq4z9
Why do we need to have tornadoes coming in toward KC on night one of the NFL Draft?! God is testing me. 😅 #KCWeather #ChiefsKingdom
Belton did take a hit from a tornado. We have kept you posted since 3:00 when the first tornado warning popped up north of Kansas City. #KCWeather
BREAKING NEWS: NWS says a confirmed tornado touched down in Belton near I-49.

Storms are lining up and heading this direction. The KC area is currently under tornado warnings and severe storm warnings, should be starting up here in about an hour or two. Man my anxiety just spiked something fierce. ⛈️⛈️🌪️
