To find solutions to the current K-12 school funding problems, it is important to inform ourselves of the history behind the current funding mechanism. Informed policy makers make equitable, evidence-based decisions that drive student achievement. #LB132 #TEEOSA @NASBonline

#LB132 Thanks to Senator DeBoer for believing in education professionals, school boards, and the department of education. Thanks for being supportive, something her colleagues seem to have forgotten, when supposedly some (many?) of them started on school boards.

#LB132 Senator Wayne rightly disparaging the disappearance of vocational and trade preparation from K-12 education. Some students must retake the basics in community college. Basics that should have happened in K-12.

Thank you @Bostelman4LD23 for understanding the #opportunity #LB132 provides to research, analyze, & provide meaningful change to the way we fund K-12 education in our state. Knowledge is power and #LB132 provides a way to enact meaningful change! #ThankYou #weLIVEhere @NRCSA1980

Some in the #NEleg claim that 49 state senators are able to better research, analyze, and determine best practices in evidence-based funding of K-12 education than school finance experts, superintendents, & school board members. Uhhh....#weLIVEhere #LB132

I’ll say it again for the people in the back. K-12 education in Nebraska does NOT have a spending problem, we have a FUNDING problem. Currently, Nebraska ranks 49th in its contributions to K-12 education. #FixTheFundingProblem #LB132 #weLIVEhere #neleg

False. The 16 member commission “shall conduct an in-depth review of the financing of the public elementary & secondary schools...which would provide equitable educational opportunities across the state & offer alternatives to heavy reliance on property tax.” #ReadTheBill #LB132

Today the Legislature will debate LB 132, a bill that creates a commission to rubber stamp tax increases on hardworking Nebraskans under the guise of fixing school funding. No more tax increases – Nebraskans are taxed too much already!

Thank you @SenSteveLathrop for your comments today on #LB364. Nebraska ranks 49th in its funding for K-12 education. The question is never asked “What more can we do as a state to help public education close the achievement gap?” Let’s answer that question through #LB132. #neleg

An evidence-based equitable school #funding formula that values every student in the state regardless of where they live would do more to increase student achievement than #LB364 could ever hope to do. True story. #LB132 #weLIVEhere
