So…#NeLeg did not have the resources to provide basic funding for K-12 public education in #LB890, but they DO have money to spare for tax cuts for millionaires in #LB939. One guess on which one would benefit #rural Nebraska more. 🤔

#LB890 Albrecht: Where are we getting the money? STARWARS? The "canal"? Well, YES! Achieve the promise made 32 years ago by #LB1059(1990) on state school funding. Instead of some flashy wet dream arrogant new idea like the canal or lake. Finish one job before starting another

#LB890 I keep hearing the property tax credit fund provides a reduction of 25% in property tax. Anyone else confused by that claim?

#LB890 Sen. Pahls raises many fair points. (He actually worked in schools, too). Seems like a good time to remind everyone that ~70% of property tax payers have no direct link (children, &c.) to the schools they are paying for. Someone paid our way. Now we return the favor.

I have a lot of respect for leadership at Omaha Public Schools. Their opposition doesn’t make LB890 bad for Nebraska. It doesn’t even make it bad for them. It shows their skeptical of the Legislature. Read to hearing transcripts. #LB890

#LB890 / #LB891 is a direct shot at lower property tax levies for 100% of Nebraskans. 100%. #LB890 fundamentally solves the reliance on property taxes to fund public education. This is not a difficult vote. #VoteYes

Repurposing #LB1107 (2020) to fund TEEOSA in #LB890 at long last gives #LB1107 a purpose. TRUE property tax relief at the front instead of having to apply for a credit after. a credit that depends on income or no income. "Guarantee?" Sen. Murman? Life has no guarantee.
