20 years after the #LRAS2003 was passed in Scotland - this is just ridiculous. Clearly illegal. But worse, it is threatening violent behaviour. @dgcouncil and @PSOSDandG should inspect and have this removed.
The need for statutory right to roam in England seems to become ever clearer..with add-ons (water access, wild camping, riding, etc). It is 20 years since #LRAS2003 enacted in Scotland & the benefits have been significant & proven.
Alexander Darwall v Dartmoor National Park Authority [2023] EWHC 35: s.10(1) Dartmoor Commons Act 1985 did not, by necessary implication, include a right to wild camp without permission where public had a right to walk or ride a horse on the commons: https://t.co/xn1RUO9UUx

@SangitaMyska @guyshrubsole @BBCRadio4 @BBCSounds This was good listening. I was among the architects of our 2003 Access legislation in Scotland - and became first elected chair of our National Access Forum in Scotland. A well mannered discussion in the lead up plus ongoing Fora afterwards was key part of success. #LRAS2003
@RobGMacfarlane @bobdemob @Right_2Roam Sat at the @CamFolkFest listening to @billybragg - feeling the warmth from the #Lionesses winning moment reading this by @nickhayesillus1 - couldn’t help seeing & hearing all the ironies… #LRAS2003

Great to hear @RonaGibb from @PathsforAll on @BBCOutofDoors this morning - the paths in the ‘close spaces’ - linking up the ‘chopped-up spaghetti’ was always one of the key objectives of #LRAS2003
Elegant exposition by @MalcolmCombe of the conundrums surrounding #LRAS2003

Been walking the St Cuthbert's Way, Melrose to Lindesfarne, the latter part of this week. Crossed into England this morning. Scotland has a long way to go with its land reform programme, but others have further to travel. Let's not forget what we have already achieved.

@guyshrubsole The #CROW Act is definitely inferior to the #LRAS2003 in Scotland - where a general right of access and our #SOAC underpin access across nearly half of the UK’s land area.
15 years old today !
@i_findlay @SP_HealthSport @PathsforAll Great stuff Ian - And it also confirms / supports the findings in the work done by @ObsSportScot - that sport has flat-lined, but walking continues to grow in participation, especially after #LRAS2003 #corepaths
@SPICe_Research When @ScotParl passed the 2003 Land Reform Act there were less than 100km of fully asserted Rights of Way in Scotland.
Today as a result of #LRAS2003 we have 21,600km of #CorePaths in Scotland, mostly in the lowlands around villages and towns... #walking
Great to see, but do we now need something similar to #LRAS2003 for our roads and streets? M, A and B roads for vehicles, pedestrian / cycle priority for all C and Unclassified roads.... @SustransScot @PathsforAll
Did you know that it is 20 years since @OrdnanceSurvey published an updated Dumfries 50k map with many paths deleted - led to the #LRAS2003
Time for OS to accept they must map the 20,000km of #CorePaths in Scotland - the same as OS mapped Access Areas in England https://t.co/aRyJjac8Qj
#DidYouKnow that it's 25 years since the OS #surveying team cut a benchmark? Or that there are 500,000 to be found around Britain? https://t.co/NjvZiBYHrb

Seems that #CROWAct access land gets mapped south of border but @OrdnanceSurvey reluctant to map our 17,000km of #CorePaths in Scotland. When will CPs be mapped? 15 years since #LRAS2003 & all 34 CPPlans now complete. https://t.co/ORO2RWk5S7
“There are 666 miles of core paths in the Cairngorms alone and thousands more around Scotland for everybody to enjoy” - good from @cairngormsCEO - now to get #CorePaths on our @OrdnanceSurvey maps of Scotland

Clear contravention of #LRAS2003 Scotland Act
@Aberdeenshire @jimsavege
https://t.co/y5WTENJEoP - the web link is full of ‘legalese’ - so ignorance not an excuse #flagrant https://t.co/OSNIIWmyEm
@Team_BMC @access_bmc "Responsible non-motorised access to the glen on foot, bicycle or horse is available at all times" - consider that! #LRAS2003
Not only Greenspace - but in Scotland it has a sensible Right of Access #LRAS2003 making most of it useable Greenspace with #CorePaths too https://t.co/UDVCIk26Z1
