Today was the first session of #LearnTogether #GrowTogether (#LTGT). We implemented a rudimentary SwiftUI app to fetch GitHub repositories. While working on it, we learned the basics of the Combine framework, including ObservableObject and @Published. We also explored the concepts of @State and @StateObject. During today's session, I also learned about SE-0335 (introduce existential 'any') (https://t.co/pnpAOxiO76). When you define shapes as [any Shape], Swift handles the type erasure for you by wrapping each element in a type-erasing container, allowing the protocol's methods to be called at runtime without knowing the concrete type. Previously, I used to write TypeErasure Wrappers for this purpose. All in all, it was a productive day!
