@doctormaxine @MS_Martinez_MD Yes, precisely a situation we countermeasured with #LabHoliday order. It sits in orders where you look for AM lab orders & either prevents the request or indicates to the ordered that we meant not to order labs. Our #LabHoliday rate is ~7% of pts every AM. #ChoosingWisely

@MS_Martinez_MD My favorite is intentionally not ordering labs for the next day, charting in my note that labs aren’t ordered to have a #LabHoliday and then finding them resulted the next morning somehow anyway.

@MS_Martinez_MD From #SHM #ChoosingWisely. We operationalize this with an order called the #LabHoliday. It's a signal indicating we decided not to order AM labs. Our orders are also not defaulted to multiple AMs of collection. Not to mention interrupted sleep for data without action needed!
