Or, maybe you're a retiree, getting up to sort the coffee. Whoever you are, if you believe in political independence for your kids - and for all our sakes - I have but one plea... And aye, it's a wee read. But not a complex one. A WORD OF WARNING... We've an election tomorrow. Perhaps the strangest election in modern political history. An election where the worst Tory government in living memory - the one we could have avoided had we voted YES in 2014 - is set to be replaced by, effectively, a new Tory-Labour party. Let's call them #Labtervatives. Btw, use that hashtag. Use it in all your posts right through to tomorrow. Use it, use it, use it. Yes, the Tory government who dragged us kicking and screaming out of Europe, atop a sea of lies, is set to disappear... ...until the parody that passes for Westminster democracy returns them again - probably 4-8 years from now. Remember. This is the Tory government that Labour fought tooth and nail for in 2014. This reality, Labour insisted, was better than political independence. Europe? Energy prices? Food prices? For many, life is now very tough - if not intolerable. Labour are custodians of that reality every bit as much as the Tories. Never forget the lies. Never forgive the liars. 'Sir' Keir Starmer will become the next PM of this demonstrably false 'political union'. His ascendency has only been possible because of how torturously awful the Tories have been. Johnson. Truss. Sunak. But Starmer himself brings...nothing. Nothing but continuity. Of incompetence - and the ongoing crisis of rank, right-wing English nationalism. And all against the backdrop of right-wing resurgence across Europe. Friends, these are dark times. This election is important beyond the boundaries of Scotland... THIS IS THE MAN... Starmer? God alone knows the danger this man presents to Scotland. This is the man who has driven the left out of what used to be the Labour party. This is the man who has stuffed the Labour party in a sack, and dragged it firmly to the right. To win Westminster, he merely had to be a better brand of Tory than the Tories. Political rapine. Who knew!? UK politics now offers 3-flavours of choice to the electorate in England. Right-wing nutters. Right-wing crazies. Right-wing psychopaths. What a choice! A choice, thankfully, we can leave well alone in Scotland or Wales. This is the man who is - unquestionably - a proven liar. A closet Tory, who has U-turned on all his manifesto commitments. Easy to do when you know you're a shoo-in. Closing the Lords? Lies. Addressing the climate challenge? Lies. Scrapping the 2-child cap? Lies. Taxing the rich, fairly? Lies. Nationalising services in England and Wales? Lies. Scrapping Tuition fees in England? Lies. And that's the tip of the proverbial Starmerberg. His new government isn't going to bring about 'change' or anything approaching progress. In months of snake-oil electioneering, they've not clarified what that change is. Not once. Not one time. The reality? It's a change of logo, not of government. Surely people can see this? It's not about regime change, it's about continuing the regime. It's about business as usual. This is the man who has demonstrated chilling support of Israel amidst the daily slaughter of innocents in Gaza. Human rights lawyer!?! A Tory rebrand. This is the man who will attack the Scottish Parliament and seek to ensure Scots never have the temerity or means to vote for an independence referendum again. A Tory rebrand. This is the man who will insist Scotland houses the UK's abhorrent arsenal of nuclear weapons. A Tory rebrand. This is the man who will insist Scotland needs nuclear power stations - to power ENGLAND - via his GB energy con. A Tory rebrand. This is the man who will continue to fight for his Brexitanian luvvies and keep Scots out of Europe. He will simply carry on the disenfranchisement of our kids, scrapping free movement, and opting - always - for that small-minded 'English football' nationalist vibe in foreign relations. 'This is your nation', he will insist. A Tory rebrand. A Tory rebrand. A Tory rebrand. This is your new truth mantra. Say it. Keep saying it. And make sure others hear you. This is also, as it happens, reality - despite an almost demented effort by the BBC and the squatting Anglo-state media in general to promote Starmer and shield his incompetent, careerist captain in Scotland, Anas Sarwar. Sarwar. I mean, is there a sleazier careerist in Scottish politics than this decidedly limited cretin? Off-script, he's a train wreck. The thing is, he's never served anything off-script. This fool is positively coddled by the Anglo-state media in Scotland. Nauseating stuff. Serve him a real question? Any question? One he's not expecting? It's popcorn time. Every time. YOU WANT FACTS...?! 1 - Starmer will win this election by a landslide. 2 - He does not need the votes of Scottish or Welsh citizens to easily secure said landslide. England alone will provide more than enough for his majority. 3 - However, if Labour gains the majority of seats in Scotland he will insist you think 'independence is dead'. Further, he will get away with almost anything through his term - a term that will be as disastrous as that of his Tory chums - and he'll point to YOU as proof of support. 4 - A vote for Alba or Green in Scotland, in an FPTP election, is a wasted vote. And please, Alba friends - enough. I'm critical of the SNP. Especially with media strategy. See my pinned post, where I wax lyrical about how all our YES reps need to do better, strategically and otherwise. Holyrood is a different game. I want change too. But ensuring a Labour candidate wins here, now - at the expense of an SNP politician? Well, that does not 'raise the profile of Alba', as someone mentioned previously. And it does not 'send a message' to the SNP. It, rather, undermines the entire YES movement. It only - only, only, only - ensures that Labour seat and the cast iron promise of Anas Sarwar saying that the '...people of Scotland have had enough of independence'. Critically, it empowers, in a proven capacity, any actions by our Westminster enemy to attack our Parliament thereafter, and our ability to press the case for independence in the first place. Perhaps that extra Labour seat, made possible by a few hundred Alba or Green votes, will be one of the English MPs Starmer has parachuted in for 'project Britain'? It's all so tiresome, so inevitable. He's removing X critical power of the Scottish Parliament to do Y? 'You voted for it..' he'll say. He's 'giving us', instead, the power to raise bills to introduce a sweeping new colour of toilet roll? 'You're welcome...' he'll say. Aye guys, that's really showing them! DEEP BREATH... 'Sir' Keir Starmer and Anas Sarwar are proven frauds. They are liars. They are Anglo-state nationalists. A vote for them, in any capacity, will be seen as a vote for the dismal, monochrome, small-minded mutt that is the Anglo-state. Me? I'm voting SNP. Then I'm going to do everything in my power, as a citizen, to ensure strategic change for YES, from all our YES reps. Ahead of the next Holyrood vote. Another Tory defection. Who in their right mind would vote for Starmer's #Labtervative party? We are witnessing an ongoing crisis of English nationalism. The extreme right-wing of the desired Anglo-state has for some time sporadically presented in whatever political body (Brexit, Reform) to force agenda change from the elected party of government. This is still so. However, Starmer has tapped into this warped political transfusion, one which sustains the greedy and callous black heart of Anglo-state fascism. He has learned that he, too, can seize power. He need only make Labour as hospitable and attractive a proposition for some of the worst people in politics. Many are out and out racists. Many have disgusting views on the Middle East. Many have all the compassion and empathy of a hagfish. And he has enabled that, not by mere rhetoric - the man is a consumate liar. No. He's enabled that by ridding the party of 'leftist pests'. And critically, by simply carrying on the same ugly policies of his Tory shadows. Privatised NHS. Foreign war. Corporate greed. Environmental idiocy. Fiscal austerity. Social injustice. The very DNA of Labour is now right-wing. The right-wing vote doesn't, now, simply require to skitter between Reform and whatever unhinged Faragesque tumour is being spotlighted on breakfast TV. It can now undulate and flow freely between the two main Westminster parties of power, back and forth. As and when. In all our futures. The right-wing has thus found a formula, a process, for ongoing influence and power. Dark power. This should be of real concern to all people on these islands. I predict a very slow awakening for English leftists. Some are still in denial. Some are quicker to ken. Look at @OwenJones84 But Scotland, we must, must, must not empower this man in our own borders, or his proxy sock puppets in limited, careerist frauds like Anas Sarwar. And our collective efforts to leave this demonstrably false 'union' are weakened by YES parties refusing to acknowledge this danger, with one mind. And get smart. Strategic. Quickly.
