• Increased land conflicts over land ownership and boundaries.
• Land titles registration challenges and bureaucratic inefficiencies
• Investor encroachment on community lands, forests and swamps.

Closing a week of discussions on land rights, we focused on actionable resolutions for fair and sustainable land use across the Busoga sub-region covering districts of Luuka, Kaliro, Iganga, Bugiri, Namayingo, Kamuli, Mayuge, Bugweri, and Jinja City.

Owning Land in Uganda

UPDATE: DAY 5 OF THE LAND AWARENESS WEEK!
Today marks the Climax of the #LandAwarenessWeek24. This morning, we held a radio talk show at R-FM in Iganga district. During the talk show, we discussed the manipulation of small-scale land owners by the Sugarcane Out-growers Scheme which has lost control on land usage in relation to food production.
Our National Chairperson highlighted the need to adopt the Large Scale Land Based Investment (LSLBI) Tracking Tool and Investor Compliance Monitoring Tool (ICMT) by local government and citizens in the region to address issues of land grabbing and ensure meaningful investments on land.
After the radio talk show, we join the closing event of the 8th National Land Awareness Week (LAW) at the Iganga district headquarters . This event is being attended by different land actors and stakeholders. At this event, feedback from the communities will be shared as well as commitments made by government and different stakeholders to address the land problems highlighted through the week. We are always proud to be part of the Land Awareness Week events.
