Not to toot my own horn (ok, maybe a little), but I was absolutely right about the “No” in #NoEstimates being a bad idea when most of us were really talking about estimating differently, using statistics & forecasting. What I dubbed #LeanEstimates

“#NoEstimates does not aim to solve the symptom because even though that would be easy - just stop estimating - it would probably be also dangerous. Instead, the purpose is to find and eliminate the root causes, to change the system conditions you are living in.“ #LeanEstimates https://t.co/MEm8bMkXDr

How long will it take to get where we need to go? How sure are we that that's where we need to go? That we'll be happy we went? https://t.co/hQWkpv53lT #agile #modernagile #xp #scrum #NoEstimates #YesEstimates #SomeEstimatesSometimes #LeanEstimates #Mehstimates #Questimates

We’re adults & professionals. If the point of story point estimation is to discuss the story, how about we skip the games and talk about the story. #LeanEstimates https://t.co/tP6NdEqeU7

"Making estimation less important does not make it unimportant." @gdinwiddie I'm going to quote that next time I'm talking #LeanEstimates https://t.co/OOeUURrCHa

@EBrown8534 @henebb @viktorcessan @galleman @redjane The best advice I ever got was "under promise/over deliver". I just wished it didn't feel dishonest. I'm looking for ways to be honest and get the same results. #LeanEstimates #NoEstimates

The thing that the whole #NoEstimates, #LeanEstimates, #etc needs is civility in discourse and room to disagree.

@henebb If you read the article, they definitely are estimating. Just at the right level of abstraction for the purpose. #LeanEstimates

@johncutlefish As a writer, I estimated writing my talk about not doing "exert estimation" would take 2 or 3 wkends. It took 6. #irony #leanestimates

@henebb @olaberg @gdinwiddie @agileArchitect @galleman I don't understand why we seek to redefine terms that are commonly known. A forecast is an estimate.
