@McInurface @SarahLudford If they don’t want to use correct sex loos they can obviously use the accessible mixed sex ones which are widely available: no shame there, I used a mixed sex toilet at the #libdemconf. Nobody will be “outed” as we can all use our eyes and ears to tell who is female or male.

@LiseMcNally @CarlCashman @LibDems @andyburnham Lisa. outside #LibDemConf I spoke with Lib MPs and @cathynewman etc highlighting the now PM's long-standing calls for justice. With the Leader @EdwardJDavey also confirming to me that he'll raise this on a party level, we hope @ITV reports on this

@Bill_Esterson
Rishi Sunak was all over the place when I asked him to follow the lead set by @MetroMayorSteve @AndyBurnhamGM and other local Labour leaders who are supporting working people left behind. I'll keep pressing him to deal with this burning injustice. #ExcludedUK

WORDS MATTER… ACTION MATTERS MORE!
On 24 June 2024, during an ExcludedUK livestream, @AndyBurnham spoke clearly about what could still be done for the 3.8 million UK taxpayers excluded from parity of Covid-19 financial support.
He said:
“I think there are ways we can start to frame financial asks that I think are fair, proportionate and doable.”
More than two years later, those words remain just as important.
Andy has consistently been one of ExcludedUK’s strongest political supporters. He recognised that what happened to the 3.8 million was not simply an unfortunate consequence of the pandemic response. It was an injustice.
He told our community:
“The public see you and the public support you.”
He also pledged:
“We will work with you to make sure that the excluded is recognised as one of the injustices that this country needs to rectify.”
And he was unequivocal that time did not diminish that commitment:
“I supported you back in the pandemic, and we support you now. The passage of time doesn’t change that.”
Today, as Prime Minister, Andy Burnham is in a position to help turn those commitments into meaningful action.
#ExcludedUK is ready to work constructively with the Prime Minister and the Gaps in Covid-19 Financial Support APPG to explore financial redress that is fair, proportionate and achievable.
Because after more than six years, the consequences cannot simply be forgotten.
Businesses were lost... and are still being lost!
Homes were lost...and reposessions continue...
Livelihoods and futures were destroyed.. yep! Still ongoing!
More than 40 members of our community saw no other way out than to take their own lives....and they are only the ones we have been made aware of!
The 3.8 million deserve more than acknowledgement of what happened. They deserve recognition, accountability and justice.
Recognition is fair.
Accountability is proportionate.
Justice is doable.
Prime Minister, the opportunity is now there to begin that work.

@SkyNews @LaylaMoran @agcolehamilton @cathynewman @pippaheylings, it was a pleasure speaking with you outside #LibDemConf over the past few days. Your deep understanding of the #ExcludedUK Scandal is clear, and we applaud your commitment to call on @andyburnham to deliver the financial restitution he long championed as Mayor.
I’ve just been sent this, it’s appalling.
One of the reasons 3.8 million people were given no financial support at all during the pandemic….
Because Rishi didn’t believe they were Tory voters.
Great to meet you in person at #LibDemConf, @HinaBokhariLD. Thank you for committing to raise the #ExcludedUK scandal with Mayor @SadiqKhan and explore how the @LondonAssembly can put pressure on the PM @AndyBurnham to now honour his words of redress
@EdwardJDavey
@cathynewman
Those excluded by the Government's COVID-19 financial support plans are experiencing deep anguish and mental ill-health during this pandemic. I will continue to work alongside UK mayors and @ExcludedUK to ensure their voices are heard.

.@LibDems wanted to see a Budget that supported small businesses, that helped the 3 million workers #excluded from any government support at all #GapsInSupport , and invested in a climate-friendly recovery. This is not what we got. I shared more of my thoughts on @BBC3CR 👇
@WillForster As a member of our @APPGGapsSupport, it is great to discuss the ongoing plight of the #ExcludedUK again at #libdemconf, and we welcome your strong commitment to call on @andyburnham to NOW honour his words of restitution for all inc in #Woking.

ANDY IS FOR US. NOW, AS PRIME MINISTER, HE CAN DELIVER JUSTICE.
Andy Burnham has been the loudest and most consistent political champion of ExcludedUK since the beginning of our campaign.
In his own words, which you can watch in the video below:
“The support for you is strong and it will always be there, the reason being because the level of injustice that you have faced is indefensible.”
He listened when others would not. He gave our members a platform. He publicly recognised the devastating injustice inflicted on 3.8 million UK taxpayers who dutifully paid into the system, but were deliberately left without parity of Covid-19 financial support when they needed it most.
During his first speech as Labour leader, Andy spoke about putting political power at the service of people and places that had been waiting too long to hope again. He promised to bring back the hope.
He also spoke about the Hillsborough Law and the importance of ensuring that people who have suffered institutional injustice are finally given truth, accountability and justice.
The ExcludedUK community is one of those communities.
More than six years later, thousands remain trapped by debt, lost businesses, lost homes, damaged health and severe mental distress. More than 40 people connected with our campaign saw no other way out than to take their own lives.
Towards the end of his leadership speech, Andy also spoke about supporting British business and rebuilding the economy.
That promise must include the company directors, freelancers, sole traders, newly self-employed people and small business owners who were legally prevented from trading, denied fair and equal support and forced to carry the financial consequences personally.
These businesses did not fail because they were unviable.
They were failed by government policy.
Andy has taken part in ExcludedUK livestream events, listened directly to our members and repeatedly highlighted the need to secure justice for the excluded.
During our livestream on 24 June 2024, he told us:
“The public see you and the public support you.”
He also promised:
“We will work with you to make sure that the excluded is recognised as one of the injustices that this country needs to rectify.”
Andy made his commitment unmistakably clear:
“I supported you back in the pandemic, and we support you now. The passage of time doesn’t change that.”
And he recognised the strength of our case:
“The support for you is strong and it will always be there, the reason being because the level of injustice that you have faced is indefensible.”
Today, Andy Burnham is no longer simply one of our strongest supporters.
He is our Prime Minister.
He now has the power to turn those commitments into meaningful action.
For the 3.8 million, bringing back hope must mean recognition, accountability, parity and justice.
Prime Minister, you have always stood with us.
Now is the time to come through on your promise.
Bring back the hope. Deliver justice for the excluded.

👇 Highlights from the #ExcludedUK Pre Budget Event on Wednesday. Mr Sunak must surely be able to spare the two minutes to listen. The Chancellor would be doing the country a complete disservice if he ignores those left behind on March 3rd. It's time to bring us in from the cold.
@LibDems @EdwardJDavey Thank you again @wendychambLD for meeting me outside the #libdemconf in #Brighton to discuss #ExcludedUK and the ongoing impact to so many. We welcome your commitment to raise the issue with @andyburnham and hold him to his words of restitution throughout his time as @MayorofGM.
The UKGovt told us that it would be too difficult to help those who didn't fit neatly into one of the various Covid support schemes, due to the potential for fraud. Meanwhile, some businesses were already defrauding taxpayers while receiving that support.
@TweetingCollins Just like last year thankyou you for meeting me at #libdemconf to discuss the #ExcludedUK and the ongoing impact. Members in #Harpenden and #berkhamstead welcome your commitment to raise this with @andyburnham and now hold him to his words of restitution

@libdemdaisy

Your stalwart support @PaulKohlerSW19 meant so much. Your recognition that the exclusion was a serious policy failure, and your call to now address its legacy of debt and distress, gives all the #ExcludedUK including in #Wimbledon hope for accountability and justice.

TransLucent will be at the Birdcage tomorrow (BN2 1TL) from 0930 to 1130 at the Lib Dem Autumn Conference, informing delegates about trans rights, or, to be precise, the lack of them.
