At #LinkedInEng, we run stateful systems on Kubernetes.
Rather than building an operator for each system, we designed a unified operator that coordinates pod orchestration by delegating to services managing application-specific logic.
Each pod gets a stable ID, maintenance is handled as a first-class operation, and rebalancing storms are avoided through 'instance swaps'.
