Shri Vivek Chaturvedi, Chairman, CBIC, delivered a Special Address at #MASCRADE2026, organised by FICCI on September 17–18 in New Delhi, on the theme “One World, One Fight: Eliminating Counterfeiting and Smuggling through Collective Action.” He highlighted that combating illicit trade is essential for protecting market integrity, safeguarding consumers, supporting legitimate industry and securing the economic interests of the nation.
He underscored the importance of technology-driven enforcement, including the Government’s initiative to deploy non-intrusive scanning systems with advanced image analytics and Artificial Intelligence, with phased expansion to eventually scan every container arriving at major ports.
👉Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Hon’ble Former President of India, delivered the Inaugural Address on the occasion. The Hon’ble Former President, along with Shri Vivek Chaturvedi and other dignitaries, also released the FICCI-KPMG Study on Illicit Trade in India: Economic Impact, Enforcement Challenges and the Path Forward.
