Pioneering DeFi Lending on the Kaspa Ecosystem
In a recent MEXC Oceania AMA session #MEXCAMA , the team behind KASKAD provided an in-depth look at their new money market protocol built on the Kaspa ($KAS) ecosystem. The project aims to bring sophisticated DeFi lending capabilities to Kaspa holders, addressing the previous lack of utility for one of crypto’s strongest Layer 1 networks.

What is @AppKaskad ?
Kaskad is a decentralized money market and lending platform constructed on IGRA, Kaspa’s EVM-compatible Layer 2. The protocol allows users to supply assets as collateral, borrow liquidity against them, and earn competitive yields.
The core problem Kaskad solves is simple yet significant: many in the Kaspa community have been holding $KAS with limited opportunities to put their assets to work in DeFi. By enabling users to keep their Kaspa while borrowing against it and opening bridges for assets like USDC from other chains Kaskad is injecting real liquidity and utility into the Kaspa ecosystem.
How Kaskad Works
Users can supply supported assets to the platform and use them as collateral to borrow other tokens. Currently, the protocol supports high-liquidity blue-chip assets to ensure safety and reliability:
Native iKAS (Kaspa wrapped on IGRA)
Bridged assets via Hyperlane, including $USDC, $USDT, cbBTC, and ethereum:0xc02aaa39b223fe8d0a0e5c4f27ead9083c756cc2
Plans are in place to gradually expand to more major tokens. Suppliers earn interest paid directly by borrowers, while the protocol takes a small spread. On top of this base yield, suppliers and borrowers receive additional KASKAD token rewards every 30 days through an epoch system, creating a compelling double APY opportunity.
Revolutionary Oracle Technology
One of the standout innovations discussed was KASKAD’s custom-built Oracle, developed by Elliot with academic research and formal mathematical proofs. Unlike traditional oracles such as Chainlink, which rely on median-of-medians and centralized node reporting, KASKAD’s solution:
Pulls price data directly from the top 5–6 exchanges that account for 90–95% of trading volume uses a consolidated order book approach for more accurate, real-time pricing Is provably secure the cost to manipulate the Oracle is equivalent to manipulating the actual market.
This design prioritizes transparency, speed, and resistance to manipulation, providing stronger protection for users during liquidations and volatile market conditions.
Built for the AI Agent Era
Looking toward the future, Kaskad is positioning itself as a leader in AI-powered DeFi. The team has implemented an MCP server that exposes the entire protocol in a headless format, allowing AI agents to read protocol data, find optimal yields, and execute supply/borrow strategies autonomously.
Through IGRA’s secure wallet-sharing features, users can delegate limited permissions to agents without exposing private keys, complete with custom rules and spending limits. This enables DeFi activity to continue 24/7, even while users sleep.
Tokenomics and Sustainable Revenue
The $KSKD token serves multiple purposes: yield boosting, governance, and incentives. A key differentiator is the immutable on-chain revenue split and it 65% goes to the DAO Treasury and 35% to the Team Treasury. The DAO can then decide how to use its share for token buybacks, burns, additional yield farming, or supporting broader Kaspa ecosystem development.

The team highlighted several compelling reasons for choosing Kaspa:
Bitcoin-level security with mechanical consensus
Extremely fast finality (approximately 1 second per transaction)
Full EVM compatibility and MEV resistance via IGRA Layer 2
They see Kaspa as one of the most promising foundations for the next wave of scalable, decentralized finance.
Current Momentum and Vision
Since launching on mainnet, Kaskad has already achieved an impressive $1.6 million in Total Value Locked (TVL) within the first day a strong testament to community support. The team, which received a one-year grant for oracle research, emphasized their commitment to legal compliance and long-term institutional readiness.
Looking ahead, their ambitious goal is to become one of the top lending protocols across all of DeFi, while significantly boosting liquidity and adoption within the Kaspa ecosystem.
