Dunno how to feel about bringing the Beavers mascot to the Majors and overlapping with the state’s modern baseball heart and largest university. I get the Portland history, but I’d argue the city should move on to something that feels uniquely its own.
I really like how Portland “Pathfinders” sounds. It ties into the Oregon Trail—what puts Oregon on the map nationally—while also having a double meaning that fits the city’s progressive identity. “Pioneers” hits a similar note, but comes with more baggage.
“Stags” might be the most compelling to me though—direct tie to the White Stag sign and a super clean, iconic identity. “Wet Sox” is fun too, mixing Portland quirk with old school baseball.
Idk, all fun to think about. I’ll just be happy if a PDX MLB team ever steps on the field in Stumptown
In celebration of MLB opening day here are some mockups I did for if an expansion team ever comes to Portland.

I was invited yesterday to be a part of a research group for @PDXDiamondProj & to give input on the proposed MLB stadium in PDX. I brought along my glove. I figured there would be a catch somewhere in that group. Maybe even a cool story.

Meanwhile, @PDXDiamondProj wants to put #Portland's future @MLB team in a hideous suburban area with zero transit. It's a total affront to Portlanders, who are way more eco-friendly and transit-supporting than most folks in its peer cities.
