As the ecosystem moves into 2026, active members of @meta_pool #mpDAO are encouraged to stay aligned with the latest governance developments around #MPIP.
Following a sequence of foundational proposals such as MPIP-15, MPIP-18, and MPIP-20, a clear progression has been established in how the protocol approaches buybacks, rewards, and long-term sustainability.
Now, MPIP-24 is live 🚀
To fully understand MPIP-24, it helps to look at the proposals that shaped the current model:
📃 MPIP-15 — $mpDAO Dynamic Price Stability & Ecosystem Growth
Introduced the first version of the buyback and reward program, featuring dual distributions of stNEAR and locked mpDAO, dynamic allocation percentages, and a TWAP-based adjustment mechanism.
📃 MPIP-18
Extended the MPIP-15 framework through December 2025 after strong performance indicators and positive ecosystem feedback.
📃 MPIP-20 — Simplified Buyback Model
Marked a major shift by simplifying the reward structure:
• Removed stNEAR from reward distributions
• Eliminated variable stNEAR/mpDAO calculations
• Retained TWAP only to determine the split between unlocked and locked $mpDAO
• Allocated 100 percent of rewards to buying $mpDAO
• Distributed rewards exclusively in $mpDAO
• Simplified claims while increasing liquidity and trading volume
MPIP-20 established the model currently in use and superseded the operational mechanics of MPIP-15.
📃 MPIP-24 — Buyback Program Continuation
Builds on this updated framework by continuing the buyback program under the unlocked and locked $mpDAO distribution model.
Taken together, this progression reflects a long-term strategy by the @meta_pool team to strengthen governance, maintain consistent $mpDAO liquidity, and support sustainable protocol growth. Successful execution of MPIP-24 is expected to drive organic demand, reinforce market confidence, and further align incentives across the ecosystem.

Following a sequence of background proposals of previous MPIPs like mpip15, mpIP-18 & mpip 20.
MPIP -24 is here!
To further understand mpip-24, one must know about :
📃MPIP-15 proposal for " $mpDAO Dynamic Price Stability & Ecosystem Growth" :
This Introduced the initial version of the buyback and reward program with a dual distribution (stNEAR + locked mpDAO), dynamic percentages, and a TWAP-based adjustment mechanism.
📃MPIP-18:
(Extension to December 2025) Extended the MPIP-15 program after positive performance indicators.
📃MPIP-20 proposal to Simplify buyback to increase mpDAO volume, which Significantly altered the mechanism by: Removing stNEAR from reward distributions.
👉Eliminating the variable stNEAR/mpDAO calculation.
👉Maintaining the TWAP only to determine the split between UNLOCKED and LOCKED $mpDAO.
👉Using 100% of rewards to buy $mpDAO.
👉Distributing only $mpDAO to all participants.
👉Simplifying reward claims and increasing $mpDAO liquidity and trading volume.
MPIP-20 established the model currently in effect and supersedes the MPIP-15 operational details.
With the above background proposals, we currently have MpIP- 24, pushing for "Buyback Program Continuation Under the Updated $mpDAO Distribution Model (ie UNLOCKED and LOCKED $mpDAO) ."
Following and carefully examining the above series of proposals, it's clear that @meta_pool team has created a long-term initiative to maintain consistency in $mpDAO liquidity and governance. With the success of MPIP - 24 there will be an increase in organic demand, reinforcing the $mpDAO market, and improving protocol sustainability.

For the sake of proper & effective participatory among @meta_pool #DAO users with voting powers. An #MPIP - 16 proposal was issued back in June. This proposal centered on "Expiration Cycles for Votes".
The main reason behind this proposal is as follows :
👉The manual frustration of deleting old votes (especially multiple campaigns) to participate on new campaigns.
👉Wasted vote on inactive validators or low performing validators
👉stNEAR is distributed to users who have voted for offline validators.
👉To stop Inactive DAO members receiving rewards as active DAO members.
In order to create a uniformed and steady system. A few adjustments has been made via #MPIP-16.
So from now on:
⛓️ Validator votes will last for 2 months.
🗳️ Grants & meme votes will last for 1 month.
(Renew on time to keep your votes active!)
📅 Every 3rd of the month, cycles close.
❌ Without renewal, your vote expires, and rewards may be lost.
With these few modifications the @meta_pool governance system will be more #Decentralized, democratic and there will be more active participation among #DAO members.

Currently, there is alot of attention centering on @meta_pool's #MPIP-16 proposal on "vote expiration cycles" as it was implemented this early September .
But for context sake, What does MPIP mean 🤔?
In this thread we will explore the full concept and context behind this @meta_pool terminology.
So firstly, what does #MPIP stands for?
MPIP - Meta Pool Improvement Proposal: is @meta_pool advance Governance protocol for it DAO, created to promote a process for decision-making within it ecosystem , to encourage transparency, participation and open discussion via @NEARProtocol Blockchain Operating System (BOS).
This simply means, #MPIP is an On-chain governance feature of @meta_pool on @NEARProtocol that enables #NEAR ecosystem and #MetaPool community to make Proposals that promotes a true decentralized autonomous organizations .
The goal of MPIP is to establish a highly participatory and transparent process for complex decision making or changes to @meta_pool Protocol, emphasizing a more decentralized approach.
This ensures that the evolution of @meta_pool aligns with the interests of its DAO participants at large .
Also, through specified criterias #MPIP also allows stakeholders with @meta_pool's voting powers within @NEARProtocol to propose, debate, and vote on any change to @meta_pool & it network's protocol directly on the #Blockchain itself.
With a total of 18 #MPIP proposals since 2023, #MPIP has been the forefront of discussions between the community and the @meta_pool core team.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN MPIPs?
For any #MPIP, a member with voting power can participate by:
👉Creating a MPIPs.
👉Voting for MPIPs.
Or
👉Do Both.
