Preliminary readings show that indeed #Sam does not have a very large windfield at all. Also, I think I see markers for greater than 137 knots, which is Category 5 (157 MPH). They'll head back to verify in a few moments. #MajorHurricaneSam #HurricaneHunters

.@NOAA_HurrHunter has dispatched two planes to investigate #MajorHurricaneSam. One is currently upper level dropsonde, the other is low level recon, they're en-route. #Sam

#Sam appears to be developing annular characteristics. Deep convection fully surrounding the eye. This might make a run at Cat 5. It's currently Cat 4. #MajorHurricaneSam #GOES16
