This week part of our team participated in the #MetSoc2020 conference in Christchurch and we shared some of the results of the project for the first time 😁🌫🌊
Neelesh Rampal of @niwa_nz using machine learning to understand how large scale synoptic weather patterns typically influence small scale temp, rainfall etc variability over Aotearoa. A very cool, and promising future technique for probing the future climate! #MetSoc2020
How much of our extreme weather events can be attributed to the human impact on climate? Great to see Sue Rozier’s work on event attribution and excited to read the upcoming publication. Remotely attending #MetSoc2020 makes viewing quite different!

👇 Sara is a PhD student in our Weather & Wildfire programme, carrying our research into impact-based forecasting.
And we hear she won best student presentation at #MetSoc2020!
Ka mau te wehi Sara 👏
#MetSoc2020. My first conference this 2020. Presenting a poster on the updates of the @WMO_HIWeather Citizen Science Project.

Happening at the moment at #MetSoc2020. Interesting talk by @Sara_Harrison79 on impact based forecasting! Part of Sara’s work looks at different data sources for impact based modelling.

Yet, we can publish 100s of #metabolomics papers without making datasets public. ; )
One can easily count: 8-12 metabolomics papers published on a daily basis, and the fraction of datasets shared!

@hmkyale @NIH @NIHDirector #Datasharing is normative for two decades in omics disciplines. You cannot publish a proteomics, genomics or transcriptomics dataset without making it public. One wonders why #OpenScience is so complicated for clinical disciplines? (Rhetoric question, we all know the answer)
Agree, yet, still its "concerning" that :
Only 3% have opted for a training / webinar on "Reporting standards"; given that the studies adhering to #reporting #standards constitute only a fraction of total #published studies.

One of the questions at the "State of Society: EMN" seminar at #MetSoc2020

Do you agree? Let us know your opinion in case you missed it!

A big thank you @EMN_MetSoc @MetabolomicsSoc for this recognition. And, many congratulations for putting together an immensely interesting #MetSoc2020! 🙌👏👏🥂
We would like to congratulate once again the 5 grantees of the EMN award for 2020! Well done @Purva_Kulkarni , @guy_schleyer , @MelOdenkirk , @gmay_sinclair and @liliherendi!

@MetabolomicsSoc In-person meetings are always better, but #metsoc2020 virtual conference for me was a great opportunity to interact and to listen to brilliant scientists. I have a little daughter, it would have been difficult for me to attend this conference in-person.Thank you @MetabolomicsSoc
It was an absolute pleasure @MetaboHorst ! Thanks also from me to everyone at #MetSoc2020 and I notice it’s the Europeans and Australians that made it to the virtual bar!
#MetSoc2020 post conference drinks at Chez Jules. A thousand thanks to eeveryone involved in this fantastic conference, but most of all my partner in crime @julesgrif !!

Post conference chat #MetSoc2020, Chez @julesgrif . Given the circumstances, a great meeting! Thanks Leslie & ASK team! We will manage through this, and we will meet at one of next @MetabolomicsSoc meetings, in person.

#MetSoc2020 post conference drinks at Chez Jules. A thousand thanks to eeveryone involved in this fantastic conference, but most of all my partner in crime @julesgrif !!

My favored talks for today's #MetSoc2020: 1) Eiichiro Fukusaki about the taste of dipeptides in sake, 2) Erin Baker about isotopologues and ion mobility combination, and 3) Ewy Mathe about omics data integration and interpretation.
Is a pity that #MetSoc2021 will be online too

Favorite talk by @EwyMathe at the #MetSoc2020!!👍🏼
What an amazing work about “Improving interpretation of #Metabolomics #Data integrated with other #Omics data”!
@MetabolomicsSoc @EMN_MetSoc

Always label your secondary containers, folks 🤓 but really tho, is #MetSoc2020 already almost over?!

Stay tuned untill the end for #MetSoc Town Hall meeting to get information on the status and future plans of your society by @lasky_su @BaljitKUbhi and @MetExplore. #MetSoc2020.

Getting closer to the end of #MetSoc2020, it's time for a drink. But which one? 🤔 Cheers to the whole team who worked so hard to make it happen @MetabolomicsSoc @MetaboHorst @julesgrif
