I picked up a few DEC items: some documentation, software, tapes, and network equipment (mostly FDDI). I also got two new machines :) (not pictured yet).
Since some of the damaged traces of the #MicroVAX 3100 / #VAXserver 3100 are difficult to identify, I enlarged a photo of the board and printed it out, then drew in the traces of the upper board layer.
The microscope has been delivered. Some of the MicroVAX's circuit board traces are quite badly damaged. It will probably take quite a bit of work to repair everything.
I desoldered some parts and the circuit board of the #MicroVAX 3100 seems to be damaged. Just ordered a microscope, as this cannot be inspected with the naked eye.
After a long time, I'm working at the system again. I replaced the real-time clock, but the problem still remains. If no additional memory is connected, the system won't start at all. It seems that damage has occurred in the battery area, since that's exactly where the memory is located.
I ran further tests and the #MicroVAX 3100 won't boot from a BlueSCSI as well. According to the status LEDs, there seems to be a problem with the real-time clock.

The hard drives of the DEC #MicroVAX 3100 are defective, but the system itself appears to be functioning. The reported errors are “system clock” and “serial line controller.” The first errir is caused by the missing battery, and the second error is a minor issue.
A nice picture with a #MicroVAX 3100 :) I have the #VAXserver version of it, but it still needs some restoration.
