Authorities in Sullivan County, along with family members, are urgently seeking leads regarding a woman who went missing in 2017.
Shaniece Harris was last spotted in Rock Hill, NY, on May 29, 2017, and since then, there has been no word from her. Her vehicle was located two days later in the town of Thompson.
On the evening of May 29, 2017, Shaniece left her home around 8:20 pm to visit a friend. Her sister remembers speaking with her less than an hour before she departed. Shaniece made a Facetime call to her girlfriend shortly before midnight while at her friend's residence. However, her friend mentioned that Shaniece left their home with an unfamiliar individual.
By 9:30 am the following day, Shaniece had not returned, prompting her girlfriend to contact her sister, Tameka. Additionally, Shaniece did not call her mother, who was en route to Florida—a significant concern, as she typically checked in with her mother after flights.
Tameka rushed to the Monticello Police Department to report her sister missing, but was informed that she needed to wait 24 hours to file a report. After complying, she returned the next day only to receive inconsistent information and was questioned about her delay in reporting.
Two days after Shaniece's disappearance, her dark gray four-door Volkswagen Jetta was found on South Woods Drive in the Town of Thompson, NY, just under five miles from where she was last seen. Despite multiple searches in the vicinity of her vehicle, no trace of Shaniece has been discovered. Unfortunately, details surrounding her case remain scarce, leaving many questions unanswered.
Shaniece is described as a biracial woman with brown hair and brown eyes, standing 5’8'' tall and weighing between 260-300 lbs. She wears prescription glasses and has several tattoos.
The FBI has recently raised the reward to $10,000 for information regarding Shaniece’s disappearance. Authorities are actively searching for a Colton couple who went missing over the weekend. A concerned friend reached out to the Redlands Police Department on Sunday to report that Stephanie Menard and her husband, Daniel Menard, were unaccounted for. The last known sighting of the Menards was around 10 a.m. on Saturday at their residence on the 2600 block of Keissel Road.
Police noted that the couple's small dog, named Cuddles, is also missing. Daniel Menard is reported to have dementia and diabetes, raising further concerns for their safety. Social media updates indicate that the couple left home without their identification, cell phones, or Stephanie's cane, which is essential for her mobility.
Anyone who may have information regarding the couple's disappearance or current location is urged to contact the Redlands Police Department at 909-798-7681 and speak with Detective Williams.
