We applaud @PVDMayor Smiley’s testimony to the @RISenate in support of #noisecameras to curtail deliberate and unhealthy #vehiclenoise on Providence streets — primarily by a small cohort using #modifiedmufflers and over-amplified audio systems. #Sleepdeprivation harms EVERYONE.🔊

Ah, the sounds of Christmas in Providence: not caroling, sleighbells, or (this year) snowplows or people shoveling driveways — just the loud, intrusive sound of vehicles idling / driving by with illegal #modifiedmufflers. When is that *finally* going to change, @PVDMayor Smiley?

The #noise generated by vehicles — including cars with #modifiedmufflers, loud motorcycles, and drivers who honk excessively — accounts for a small portion of all sound-related complaints, but it’s the target of a new tool intended to lower the volume in NY City: #noisecameras.
