1877 FILM OR TELEVISION THE TELECTROSCOPE The first time we hear of the #Telectroscope is in 1877 when both François-Napoléon-Marie #Moigno and Louis #Figuier used the word but not the machine. Research shows there is uncertainty as to whether it ever existed. But I know a patent did. The word Telectroscope which has also been seen as #Electroscope, appears to have also been a generic term used for the transmission of images which was still in it’s absolute infancy. The Telectroscope seems to have emerged close to the same time the telephone showed up in 1876. The most often seen image related to the Telectroscope is this one, the #ConstantinSenlecq prototype for the television.
