The Assistant Secretary of the United States addressed questions from members of the #UNSC regarding the Memorandum of Understanding (#MOU) signed by #AbiyAhmed on January 1, 2024 and the deployment of weapons by Egypt in Somalia.
Assistant Secretary #MollyPhee stated that the MOU signed by Abiy Ahmed and #MuseBihi was not a valid agreement as it infringed upon the sovereignty and territorial integrity of #Somalia.
She also discussed the ongoing dispute between #Ethiopian and Egypt and its impact on peace and security in the #HornofAfrica.
Additionally, she mentioned that Secretary Blinken travelled to New York to meet with leaders from the Horn of Africa and #Egypt and talked about the way to engage the peace and stability of the region.

Spot on thread about @AsstSecStateAF #MollyPhee’s disastrous decisions re: Sudan. Points to a pattern of failed policy recs re: violent/reckless authoritarians in the region, at the cost of millions of lives. The war on Tigray should’ve raised red flags about her competence.
Basically, #MollyPhee 's strategy made both those criminals the two richest & most powerful men in #Sudan, while the Sudanese civilians plunged into poverty that got worse on daily basis. Those men both distrusted each other, with each maneuvering for the eventual clash.
