يعود بناء السقالة أو المسقاة البرتغالية بالجديدة* مازغان*إلى القرن 15م، حيث كانت في بدايتها عبارة عن مستوع للحبوب ومخزن للأسلحة،قبل تحويلها إلى خزان للمياه،بعد أشغال التحصين التي شهدتها مازغان انطلاقا من سنة 1541م، من أجل توفير الماء باعتباره مادة حيوية أيام الحصار والحرب.
