CM Basavaraj Bommai backtracks on the eleven flyover plans, which he announced earlier. The Friday Budget promises funds only for three flyovers.
No funds for flyovers proposed at Minerva Jn, Hosur Road, Wind Tunnel Road etc.
Building flyovers to prevent traffic jams is same as using bandaid on a fracture. It may hide the problem for a bit but will cause more damage.

When a motor vehicle gets bought, the revenue tap opens for the government- life tax, road tax & every drop of petrol. Every repair & spare part “attracts” GST. Did I mention tolls? So, what is the incentive for any government to promote public transport? #MovePeopleNotVehicles

Stop building roads around the Metro routes. Encourage people to use Metro and EV buses! Improve last mile connectivity
The basic logic of any transport project explained. If it serves to promote more private vehicles then it is bad, if it will incentivize people to use public transport (or walk/cycle) then it is good. Simple.

Never forget that when Seoul, Korea removed the Cheonggyecheon expressway in 2003 & replaced it with a restored stream & 1000 acre park in the city’s centre, not only did it transform the city’s public life & economic success, but the traffic got better.
