Is this beneficial or harmful? It’s like beating up your wife, children, or relatives in your own home and then having to avoid people’s eyes when you step outside. Get it? No matter how vile, deceitful, thuggish, or criminal you are, you still want to appear civilized in society. But such incidents tear off your mask. When you go abroad and preach Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family), Buddha’s peace, Gandhi’s tolerance, and love for humanity and all creatures, people start laughing at you. You might not realize it while living here, but your actions affect your fellow believers living outside India. Recent incidents in Bangladesh, the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe stand as evidence. In short, abandoning the pedestal of morality is easy, but the price is heavy. The sooner you understand this, the better. Disgrace is already waiting to welcome you.
