We are entering a new phase of Islamophobia, fueled by far right wings groups who are increasingly emboldened and organised. Their focus among stoking hatred, ultimately to harm British Muslim communities. Coupled this with politically charged rhetoric, anti immigrant, fake news and online misinformation it’s no wonder Islamophobia is increasing. There has to be a real challenge to this. There is an absence of a national narrative of belonging. Our politicians need to move beyond trying to appease those moving further and further to the right and further away from the Britain we are all a part of.
