VENEZUELA CASE…

The U.S. intervention in Venezuela on January 3, 2026—codenamed Operation Absolute Resolve, involving airstrikes and the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores—has been justified by the Trump administration on multiple grounds, though these are heavily contested internationally.
Let me briefly summarize my Personal Views and my Own Analysis

The U.S. excuse of “Intervention in Venezuela for narco-terrorism and drug trafficking" is, of course, just a story.
Venezuela is a country with the largest oil reserves in the world.
Most likely, María Corina Machado will come to power as president. For months now, anti-Maduro sources have been claiming that Maduro committed fraud in the most recent elections and that the elected candidate, Machado, was prevented from taking office.
Behind this U.S Military intervention in Venezuela, there are several factors that benefit the U.S. — not just oil, but other issues as well.
1) The main reason: Massive Oil Resources
2) According to the U.S. Monroe Doctrine's new version
(not wanting a non-U.S. alligned Government in its “backyard”),
another South American country will join the camp of U.S.-aligned states.
3) China, Iran, and Russia’s activities and trade with Venezuela will be dealt a blow.
Maduro's government was closely aligned with key BRICS members like Russia, China, and Iran, including through oil deals, military cooperation, and anti-U.S. rhetoric.
This is particularly damaging for Russia and China, which have invested in Venezuela (e.g., Russian military support and Chinese loans), and could lead to losses in influence, resource access (like oil), and ideological leverage.
4) A warning to BRICS countries :
The coup is a blow to BRICS' credibility and influence, primarily because it removes a sympathetic regime, underscores the bloc's defensive shortcomings, and reinforces U.S. unilateralism in a region where BRICS sought expansion.
