My school adopted Success for All - super prescribed way of teaching reading. I didn’t care for it! I taught 6th grade and we didn’t know what to do with the Ss who tested out of the Wings portion of SFA. So I volunteered to create my own curriculum! WIN #NDInnovativeEducators

@smedalen Q4: TIME!! In a small school we wear a lot of hats and there are times you do not feel like you can do a good job at any of them. I found ways to manage time more effectively and give the deserved time to the students in each area.

@smedalen A3: I love to do Code of Hour with my students. It is amazing how much kindergartners love it and are able to do it! I also do a writing and drawing activity where the kids explain what makes them special. I also have done an escape box that they loved too! #NDInnovativeEducators
Q3 - I am late to the party - sorry!! Tech has always been a bit scary for me as I am not real tech savvy. However, I strive to provide my Ss with varied opportunities to create by providing lots of choice - Ss can virtually propose an idea and I say YES!#NDInnovativeEducators
@smedalen Q3: I will continue to be a work in progress with technology. I am letting students choose technology platform they will use for presentations and projects. I have an Alexa in the classroom that answers a lot of questions for us.

@smedalen A2: I would say one thing that comes to mind is when my students do their Daily 5 rotations. In the beginning I chose for them, but slowly as the year goes on I let them begin to chose and have that opportunity of choice, which is such a powerful thing! #NDInnovativeEducators

@smedalen A2: My goal for my students is to learn to ask questions and question the why. I am not so concerned with them understanding names, dates, and places. That information will come along understand why something happened.
