What an impressive visit to the Southwest Area Career and Technical Education Academy in Dickinson with U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon and Assistant Secretary Kirsten Baesler.
From a lunch prepared and served by culinary students to seeing firsthand the incredible range of CTE opportunities available here, it was a great reminder of what can happen when we give students more pathways to discover their talents and prepare for what comes next. We also had the opportunity to learn more about their new Military Pathways class, which builds off the choice-ready framework to support success after graduation.
I’m especially grateful to Secretary McMahon and to Assistant Secretary Baesler, our former State Superintendent of Public Instruction, for their leadership and commitment to returning education decision-making back to the states, local schools, teachers and families. North Dakota understands its students and workforce best and empowering states to lead will allow us to continue building an education system that prepares every student for college, a career or military service.
Thank you to the students, instructors and staff at SWCTE for welcoming us and for the outstanding work you’re doing to prepare the next generation of North Dakota’s workforce.
