🇷🇼🇹🇿| La présidente tanzanienne @SuluhuSamia participe à #Kigali, au Sommet des chefs d’État et de gouvernement sur l’innovation nucléaire en Afrique, #NEISA. Au Kigali Convention Center, elle retrouve ses homologues, des organisations internationales, des investisseurs et des experts du secteur, dont le président togolais Faure Gnassingbé Eyadema.
⚡ La dirigeante tanzanienne a réaffirmé l’ambition de son pays de s’appuyer sur le nucléaire pour accélérer son développement énergétique. La Tanzanie a fait des progrès majeurs dans la production d’électricité, a-t-elle rappelé, et sa Vision nationale vise 70 000 MW d’ici 2050. Dans cette perspective, Dar es Salaam soutient le développement du nucléaire, qu’elle considère comme un levier compatible avec l’objectif d’une énergie propre et sûre. Elle a aussi insisté sur la nécessité de renforcer la coopération régionale pour faciliter l’accès au financement, aux compétences et à la technologie, tout en associant les populations par un travail de sensibilisation.
📝 Le contexte continental quant au nucléaire civil évolue rapidement. L’Afrique du Sud demeure le seul pays à exploiter une centrale nucléaire opérationnelle, tandis qu’en Égypte, l'entreprise russe #Rosatom construit une centrale de grande capacité. Le #Rwanda vient quant à lui de franchir un pas en signant aujourd’hui un mémorandum avec les États-Unis pour le nucléaire civil. Selon Fidèle Ndahayo, directeur général du Rwanda Atomic Energy Board, Kigali ambitionne de mettre en service son premier réacteur au début des années 2030 avec Holtec Nuclear comme partenaire technique.
🎯 Pour plusieurs États africains, le nucléaire s’impose désormais comme une option stratégique afin de sécuriser l’approvisionnement, diversifier le mix énergétique et répondre aux engagements climatiques. What Africa cannot afford is fragmentation. If countries work in isolation, progress will be slow and far more costly. Cooperation on regulation, financing and regional power integration is essential. This is precisely why NEISA matters. We are moving the conversation beyond ambition to practical coordination and financing mechanisms that can sustain deployment at scale. Rwanda will remain and continue supporting these efforts because this is larger than any one country.
By 2050, Africa will have the largest workforce in the world. The demographic shift can become one of the economical advantages of this century, if we prepare for it. In this regard we are delighted that Togo 🇹🇬 will host the next NEISA and carry forward this continental momentum.”
