This year’s 3-day National HIV & AIDS Symposium held in honour of Philly Bongole Lutaaya at MUST in Mbarara, reaffirms our national commitment to a sustainable response aiming at ending the pandemic as a public health threat by 2030. Championed by H.E Gen (Rtd) @KagutaMuseveni, as a country we have come a long way from 18% infection rate in the early 1990s to 4.9% today while prevalence rate has fallen from 63% in 2010 to 10% today. A lot remains to be done and we renew our dedication to achieving the 2030 goal guided by science, community mobilisation and strong leadership. Despite notable funding challenges, we are committed to eliminating stigma and leaving no one behind, more so the young people. I have taken the honour to close the symposium and thank the @aidscommission leadership for organising it , MUST for hosting, all supportive stakeholders and attendees. #ProtectingTheGains BMB
