A5: @Flipgrid, @BookCreatorApp, and @writereaderapp are great resources to give your students the opportunity for their voice to be heard! Check them out! #npescchat
@cmdanhoff I love giving students the option of being a manager. They ‘apply’ to the position and explain why they want to hold it, whether it’s our banker or lunch tub manager. They find responsibility and ownership then when it’s their choice, and they feel they’ve earned it 🙌🏼 #NPESCChat
@cmdanhoff I think as soon as a child feels that they have a voice, just like anyone, they feel a sense of mutual respect. They feel heard, they feel seen. With that respect, a positive relationship can be fostered. #NPESCChat

A very nice discussion on “What Everyone Needs to Know About Bullying!” For #NPESCCHAT
Thank you for joining me.
You have to start somewhere, and this is an important topic.
#NPESCCHAT has ended.
Go in peace.
Thank you all!
@kellycroy A5: victims need us to listen to them. We need to show them love and support. Another thing that is often not discussed is how we can help the bully so that these negative behaviors stop! #npescchat
@kellycroy A4: For our young PreK-2 students, we need to begin educating them regarding social media and cyberbullying. Taking time with our young students would help them as things become more difficult #npescchat

Here are some other ideas.
Whatever we do… as teachers… we can make a difference. We can help students feel good about themselves and keep them from feeling alone. They cannot learn and live a good life if they are being bullied. They need us. It’s real.
@kellycroy Not sure if #NPESCCHAT has a need to discuss the importance of PRESCHOOL! So many families think “I’ll just send my child for one year.” Or even worse, “they don’t need preschool. All they do is play.” WE have the impact to influence our youngest learners!
One more….
I know #NPESCCHAT is coming to a close, but… we have one more question…
Before that… please consider following all of the brave people who turned out tonight to support this first chat.
Here’s the next question.
Hey! The #NPESCCHAT is coming to a close.
But… we have one more question.
First, here is a resource I want you to download and share with parents, teachers, coaches, and friends:
“What Everyone Needs to Know About Bullying!”
I wrote it.

What do they need?
Well, too often the bully is given all the attention.
Victims of bullying have had their self-confidence and self-esteem eroded and it needs to be built back up. They need to feel loved and valued. Reassured. Takes time. Not a quick fix.
#NPESCCHAT
Question 5 is here!
Q5: What do the victims of bullying need? What can we do to help those hurt by bullying? What do they need to hear & feel?
This is a big one. Don’t hold back.
@kellycroy A5: #NPESCCHAT you are not alone! It takes one hurtful comment to tear someone down. We need positive role models who can sympathize and put their own personal stories out there. While also teaching them how to step up, be gritty, and respond to bullying to show internal strength
Oh my gosh!!!!! Yes!!!!! So many people are doing social media wrong. They use it to hurt, complain, defend, blame, and create drama.
Yes. Be an influencer. Promote. Encourage.
5 points for Ravenclaw! Well done!

@kellycroy Become social media positive influencers. Explaining that adults online sometimes don’t make the greatest choices - don’t follow their lead. Instead let’s introduce them to positive social media pages that follow their interests and can set a positive example for their own pages
Yes! It is difficult but I think we need to:
1) Teach bystanders to report or intervene.
2) Bullies to gain empathy.
3) Victims to build self confidence.
Too much for a tweet; I know many complications to this. But this is the gist.

@kellycroy A4: #NPESCCHAT let’s teach them how to handle Cyeberbullying. What can we do, say to protect ourselves on social media. How can we stand up for ourselves in a respectful way online. This is what we should model vs. leaving this as an issue to be dealt with at home
#NPESCCHAT
Be kind.
So many people want to be right or to wield control or power over others.
@kellycroy A4: #NPESCCHAT let’s teach them how to handle Cyeberbullying. What can we do, say to protect ourselves on social media. How can we stand up for ourselves in a respectful way online. This is what we should model vs. leaving this as an issue to be dealt with at home
A4: I think educating kids about their digital footprint starting at a young age as well as discussing how whatever you post will always be out there and can't be taken back. Kids live in the moment and don't always realize the effects of their actions. #npescchat
@kellycroy A4: #NPESCCHAT technology can be the best support and the worst enemy for kids. I think we need to stop saying “it happened online while the child was at home-not our problem”. Lets step up and confront this issue because we may be the only 1s in the child’s lives who will do so
@kellycroy A2: I try to talk with the kids individually about the difference. I will ask if the person they are talking about is being a bully, is he/she being mean, or are they being rude? The students usually know the difference once we clarify. Then we problem solve together. #npescchat
