To the “heroes” deciding to publicly declare that Biden should step down while leaving out next steps, you suck! You might think what you’re doing takes courage, but you’re wrong. You’re doing what’s easy, not what’s hard. You think people look to your leadership, but you’re failing to actually lead. You’re telling the Americans that our president, the nominee of our party, should step down. But what happens next? Joe Biden won the primary soundly, so you must acknowledge that you’re disenfranchising millions of voters. Do you understand how the electoral process works? Do you understand that the delegates are pledged to Biden and only he can release them? We don’t get to just replace Biden with someone else. What’s the messaging for a new random candidate that we all have to get behind? Where’s the money coming from on such short notice? And what’s a mini-primary that I’ve heard more than one strategist propose? People that should damn well know better. Do you understand that a brokered convention will not lead to a win for a new nominee? There’s history there, and it’s not good. So if you’re doing the easy thing by calling for Biden to step down, acknowledge the incredibly hard part that follows. “Heroes” work — help us defeat Trump, by educating folks on Project 2025 and driving home the danger he posses to literally everyone except straight, white, Christian right men.
