Presidential candidate and Chairman of the Ihya #Libya Movement, Dr Aref #Nayed, held a video call today with French President Emmanuel #Macron’s Special Advisor and his Envoy to Libya, H.E. Paul #Soler.
Dr. Nayed said in the meeting that he fully supports the 6+6 Committee in their efforts to urgently complete the election laws. He also stressed the need to start implementing the procedures for forming the new executive authority, immediately after the issuance of outputs of the 6+6 Committee, and allowing applications for candidacy to head a new caretaker government, whose work will focus on preparing and implementing simultaneous, urgent, and fair Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
The French special envoy reiterated France’s support for the sovereignty, unity and stability of Libya, the end of foreign interference, and its full support for the efforts of the 6+6 Committee towards issuing the electoral laws. He also expressed support for the last statement by H.E. Abdoulaye Bathily, the UN Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), which called for an elections-preparation government, as well as Presidential and Parliamentary Elections as soon as possible.

Ihya Libya delegation meets with the Turkish Foreign Ministry in Ankara
The Ihya Libya (Reviving Libya) delegation, composed of its Chairman Dr. Aref Ali #Nayed, Political Advisor Mr. Ezz El-Din Adalah, and Economic Advisor Mr. Fawzi Ammar, met today in #Ankara with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of #Turkey, H.E. Ambassador Ahmed Yildiz, and his assistants. A preparatory meeting was also held earlier in the day with H.E. Mr. Can Dizdar, Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department and his assistants.
The two parties reviewed the Libyan and regional political situation and ways to reach Presidential and Parliamentary elections in #Libya in order to renew legitimacy through the ballot box as soon as possible, with the mediation and oversight by the United Nations.
Nayed and Norland discuss the path to elections
The head of the Ihya Libya movement, Dr. Aref #Nayed, communicated on Wednesday with the US Ambassador and Special Envoy to #Libya, H.E. Richard #Norland. They discussed getting all key institutions and actors to participate in UN-facilitated negotiations aimed at achieving implementable elections laws and forming a technical caretaker government that can take the country to Presidential and Parliamentary elections as soon as possible. They also agreed on the importance of the neutrality of UN mediation and supporting the UN envoy Abdoulaye Bathily and his efforts to facilitate talks between all concerned parties.

Nayed and Bathily discuss the current impasse on Libya
In a lengthy call between Dr Aref Ali #Nayed, Chairman of the Ihya Libya movement, and H.E. Mr. Abdoulaye #Bathily, the #UN Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in #Libya (UNSMIL), they discussed the following:
• The outputs of the 6 + 6 Committee, and the recent approval of those outputs by the House of Representatives (HOR) and the High Council of State, and UNSMIL’s observations on them.
• The importance of respecting Libyan institutions, and the outputs of the 6+6 Committee, and building on them positively, in order to reach clear and applicable electoral laws, and then arrange for a unified interim government, who is tasked with the mandate to prepare for the holding of Presidential and Parliamentary elections urgently.
• The importance of an intensive national dialogue between all political and societal forces, in order to reach effective practical arrangements that protect the country from the dangers of sliding into conflict, and respect the will of 2.8 million Libyan female and male voters and their legitimate right to choose their leaders.

• أهمّيّة الحوار الوطني المكثّف بين كافّة القوى السّياسيّة والمجتمعيّة، للوصول لترتيبات عمليّة ناجعة، تقي البلاد من مخاطر الانزلاق إلى الصّراع، وتوصل 2.8 مليون ناخب وناخبة، لحقوقهم المشروعة في اختيار قياداتهم، وتحترم إرادتهم.

Dr Nayed spoke in the opening session of the Consultative Meeting about the current situation in Sudan, and ways to support the Sudanese people in their ordeal.
