In sum, there seems to be a shrinking middle ground, not only in terms of smaller (tho' still largest) portion of #Neithers, but also in the strengthening of #Nationalist sentiment. The biggest Q is what happens to the pro-#Remain vote after Brexit? #nilt2019 #NILifeTimes 7/8

¾ of #Neithers say they don’t support any party. If they do decide to vote (1/2 won't pick a party), they are drawn towards @allianceparty (unsurprisingly). Perhaps #Remain was a motivating factor in getting #Neithers out to vote (#nilt2019 finds they're 56% pro-Remain). 4/8

This drop is in part due to a swing back to Unionism among Protestants (67% Unionist) compared to 2018. + largest proportion of Catholic respondents saying they were Nationalist (59%) since 2003. See: https://t.co/CZqvNp1y3U #Neithers come from all religious backgrounds. 3/8

One NILT key finding in 2018 was 50% of respondents were describing themselves as #Neither unionist nor nationalist. This fell dramatically in 2019 to 39% - the lowest portion since 2005. But overall #Neithers still constitute the largest of the 3 community identities. 2/8

It isn't accurate to assume #Unionist is shorthand for pro-Leave. Just under ½ are Leave but ¼ are Remain & ¼ won’t pick a side. In contrast #Nationalists are strongly pro-Remain (83%) #Neithers are a bit of a mixed bag: 56% Remain, 19% Neither😕, 15% Leave #Others 1/3 DK 4/4

@IrishTimesOpEd @ARK_info @BenRosher @CathalPMc @niassembly #Brexit hasn't encouraged #Neithers towards favouring Irish unity. In fact, there's been an increase in those saying it makes them *less* in favour, up from 5 to 12% since 2016. That said, #Neithers have increasingly come to see #Brexit as making a United Ireland more likely. 5/
