On April 24, 2025, at around 6:30 a.m., an employee from Goss Motors reported a suspicious homemade device on a sidewalk near Jefferson Avenue and Greenwood Street in La Grande, Oregon. The La Grande Police Department responded, closing Jefferson Avenue between Greenwood and Fir Streets as a precaution. The Oregon State Police Bomb Squad was called and confirmed the device was an improvised explosive device (IED), approximately 8 inches long and 3 inches in diameter, made from a pressurized container wrapped in electrical tape, containing explosive material and BBs. The device was safely neutralized without incident, and no injuries were reported. The area was reopened after the device was removed. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are seeking information from the public, urging anyone with details to contact them at (541) 963-1017.
