The first Starships to Mars will launch in 2 years when the next Earth-Mars transfer window opens.
These will be uncrewed to test the reliability of landing intact on Mars. If those landings go well, then the first crewed flights to Mars will be in 4 years.
Flight rate will grow exponentially from there, with the goal of building a self-sustaining city in about 20 years. Being multiplanetary will vastly increase the probable lifespan of consciousness, as we will no longer have all our eggs, literally and metabolically, on one planet.

No, @elonmusk is wrong about this one.
'There won't be any jobs left!' is the same thing they said with the advent of steam power, mechanisation, tractors, and computers.
Yet there are more people with jobs in the world today than pretty much ever before in history, and our standard of living is the highest it's ever been (notwithstanding the effects of covid panic)
So what's really going on?
Technology improves productivity, and productivity determines standard of living.
Will AI be highly disruptive? Absolutely.
Will lots of jobs disappear? Definitely.
Will new opportunities arise, and human ingenuity and adaptability overcome these challenges?
Yes.
There are 2 dangers I see, both are human rather than technological:
1. Governments use AI to ramp up their control and oppression. This is pretty much a certainty that they will try, and already are. But that's a human decision and we need to stop the politicians and bureaucrats from doing so at the human decision-making level.
2. AI becomes worshipped, viewed by humans as some kind of Idol, a God made with our own hands, a new 'Teche', and humans hand over ultimate decision making power to an AI. it's a very short pathway from there, to a 'burn the heretic' type of world where questioning the AI becomes blasphemy. There is an argument to be made that AI could become something strikingly similarity what is called the anti-Christ in the book of revalation.
Not saying that's what it is, just saying that if we deify it, that's what it will become.
Both of those problems are not inherent to the technology, but are human failings in how we relate to the technology.
@WKahneman #VentureCapital and #PrivateEquity are looking for #Moats, #EarlyAccess to #DiscountedAssets, and early #ParabolicExits.
Unless you are focused on #Payments, #ForeEx, or #Tokenization, it’s hard to build things that can be #Monetized on the $XRPL.
