I spent 7 months in a “troubled teen” program in the mountains of Montana.
What I learned:
Therapy with punitive consequences (you can’t go home if you don’t show progress) doesn’t build trust or meaningful change.
It only teaches you to perform temporarily.

People with depression, anxiety, and other labels cannot just change their thoughts - if it were that simple, you think they wouldn't have tried? The CBT model calls them negative automatic thoughts (NAT) because the person they seem almost instinctual to the person #NotTherapy
People with good vibes cannot replace therapy. Positive thinking is #NotTherapy - people who believe that encouraging people to think positive will help them heal are doing a big disservice to people actually having mental health labels.
