Israeli #occupationforces raided two branches of the Educational Bookshop in #Jerusalem and confiscated several books on Sunday, claiming they contained inciteful material. Bookshop owners Mahmoud Mona and his nephew Ahmed were arrested on charges of “disturbing public order”, and their detention was extended until tomorrow.
According to the testimony of Mourad Mona (the brother and uncle of the two detainees), Israeli police officers vandalized and tried to demolish parts of the shop, and used Google Translate to understand the English titles of the books before confiscating some of them. Among the seized materials were children's books, books featuring the Palestinian flag, and even issues of Haaretz newspaper whose content they found objectionable.
The Israeli occupation forces have advanced with tanks and armored vehicles, surrounding service buildings in the center of Quneitra Governorate.
They are conducting searches and restricting citizens' movement within the governorate center.
