We recreated a 4-gun position from period photographs. The Vickers Guns, along with artillery, light AA guns and mortars, all too part in a "Pepperpot" fire plan bombarding German positions. #History #WW2 #SWW #Rhineland45 #OPVarsity #OPVeritable #VickersMG #VickersGuns

I was particularly interested in the battle at Moyland Wood, 9th Cameronians, then R Winnipeg Rifles and Can Scots. I will post those pics idc. As we are in the process of commemorating #OpVERITABLE , which was happening #OTD in 1945, it may be interesting to note that such a "cook off" occurred during the massive bombardment that preceded the attack. George Blackburn recalls that a 25-pounder round detonated prematurely
