I was there in Tenkasi District Government Headquarters Hospital today. As usual, doctors came late for duty& some of them left early, while poor patients from remote villages waiting to be treated. 10 findings of today's #OPVisit: 1. Morning OP time is from 7.30am to 12pm. However, only one doctor, said to be doing internship, was available on time (ward 36, Male outpatient general). 2. Combined wards 32 (Ortho OPD), 33 (Surgery OPD), 34 (POP dressing room): One doctor came at 8.32 while patients were waiting with severe orthopaedic issues. This hospital has six Orthopedicians. However, only one perform OP duty normally. Further, his late arrival affects patients from remote villages. 3. Ward 38 (Psychiatry & Psychology OPD): At 8.20 am, the staff told me psychiatrist will come around 9pm. However, a Psychology councillor, who was also late for duty, was seen treating/councilling patients who actually came to see psychiatrist. Patients didn't know difference between both 4. Ward 13 (Paediatric OPD): Doctors came after 8am. One of these docs left the hospital in his car about 10.20am and came back about 10.50am. A whistle-blower claimed the particular doctor owns a hospital & a clinic and performs private practice in another private hospital. "He leaves for #privatepractice during duty hours," the whistle-blower alleged. The same doctor began walking toward his car about 11.50 am before the duty time was over. 5. Ward 6 (female general medicine, skin, leprosy OPD): 1st doc came about 7.50 am. Other seats of docs were empty for some more time while women patients and children were queuing up. 6. Ward 14 (Dental OPD): dentist came after 8am ENT OPD: doc not available. Dentist claimed ENT doc had performed night duty. 7. Hospital's Superintendent and RMO came to duty about 8.30 am 8. This hospital doctors always avoid wearing uniform. This makes it difficult for patients to identify who is doctor and who is hospital worker. 9. This hospital does not update the OP display board with the duty doctors' names as promised with the team of National Quality Assurance Standards. 10. There is no transparency in the functioning of this hospital This hospital denies information about doctors' duty-time under the Right to Information Act Health Department can check today's CCTV footages and data of biometric attendance system to cross-check my findings/claims. @Subramanian_ma

Sir @Subramanian_ma, Informed by patients about doctors coming late for OP & leaving earlier, I visited Tenkasi District Government Headquarters Hospital on Saturday & was there from 6.40am to 12.20pm. OP time is from 7.30am to 12pm. After that, docs hv to do ward rounds. But, first doctor to general medicine ward arrived at 8.10 am & ortho ward at 9pm. Almost all doctors including psychiatrist and dermatologist arrived late. However, the docs began leaving hospital from 11.55am. I met many patients. Jebin (14), bitten by a dog, was denied anti-rabies vaccine on time, citing tht doctor not available. I approached causality but no use. Staff finally administered vaccine about 8.40am Diabetic patient Thirumalaiyachi (65) who came on an empty stomach for blood tests, Ortho patient Kalimuthu (75), A Raja with skin disease and many other patients affected by doctors' late-coming...RMO who should monitor doctors not available in his room whole day. You can check CCTV footages to verify my claims. Tenkasi is in 36th position among 38 TN districts in the health care ranking. People here need your @CMOTamilnadu intervention sir..
