Chester Zoo have been in touch, they needed our help! They sent a very smelly package and asked us what animals have made this mess! Was it a carnivore, a herbivore or an omnivore? 🐻🪱🦁🐍 #oakyscience
In Science, we have been classifying animals. We learnt about mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish and insects! 🐊🐟🐢🦣🦒🐸 #oakyscience
Year 2 loved picking the strawberry’s that have grown in the Science garden! They tasted really sweet! We cannot wait for more to grow so our friends can share them with us! 🍓#oakyscience
In Science, our big questions were ‘Are trees plants? Do trees have names like we do?’ 🌳
We went for a walk around school to identify different trees, measured the roots of a tree! 🌷🌱🌿

In this week’s science, Y4 Catkins learnt that sound gets fainter as the distance from the sound source increases. We used our assembly song to test out this hypothesis!

This morning we went into the Science garden and we planted our Garlic. First we dug a hole in the soil and then carefully placed the roots in and then covered it up. I wonder how tall it will grow? #oakyscience

Science Week Results!
-The Gummy Bears got bigger when left in water!
-The Cola cleaned the coin to its original copper colour!
-The coloured water travelled up the kitchen roll and filled the empty container. The 2 colours mixed to make a different colour! #OakyScience

We have had an amazing morning in Class 2 Woodies, Year 4 and Year 3 carrying out our Biscuit Dunking Investigation as part of Science week.

After our gravity investigation, today we looked at air resistance. The children created paper aeroplanes to see which one travelled the furthest - showing that air resistance wasn’t able to slow it down. We had many designs testing aerodynamics. #Oakyscience #ScienceWeek
Yesterday we continued our science week journey, investigating gravity. We tested objects around the classroom to see which one hit the floor first. The children were surprised that the items mainly hit at the same time - a law of gravity. #Oakyscience #ScienceWeek
Today, we used our materials to make a crash mat for poor old Humpty Dumpty. We decided what materials were softer and stronger to protect him from breaking… #oakyscience
