This man has his 79th birthday today. Would there be any other human being than him who’d have influenced and celebrated the moods and moments of at least 3 generations of Malayalees ever?
A humble pictorial thread. From Ravi Menon’s book ‘Athishayaraagam’’. #KJYesudas

52 years today since we lost him. The one and only Sathyan Master. 💐🙏

Passed away this day in 1971. Was short and dark, but manly. Won over a generation once upon a time.
R.L.Stevenson’s Strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was the ‘inspiration’ behind this Malayalam flick.
Got released this day in 1967, this is considered as a weird interpretation of the original literary classic. #OldReels
P. Venu's 12th death anniversary today.
Udyogastha was his directorial debut. Released during Vishu times (on 14-04-1967), this is regarded as the first ever multi-starrer movie made in Mollywood. And he was forever referred as Udyogastha Venu thereafter.

(Bonus. You are getting a more or less nonsensical thread on two of his earlier, yet truly interesting films also this time)..🤭
P. Venu was the screenwriter, producer and director for both the films. Must say he had been very much successful in making them an interesting watch. Fast paced and with all right ingredients needed to be in such a potboiler.
Since love jihad is the hot topic now, some trivia about this movie. Based on a famous play by S. L. Puram, this film had a Hindu - Muslim romance as its plot. For a change, boy was a Hindu and girl, Muslim.
#OralKoodiKallanayi. Released this day in 1964. #OldReels
Just like the title, the movie marked the beginning of some changing times.
Released a day before in 1955, it marked the entry of Shri ONV Kurup, G. Devarajan Master, K.S. George, K.P.A.C Sulochana, and O. Madhavan into Malayalam cinema. 🙏

Sasidharan got released this day 73 years ago. Also marked the entry of Mollywood’s best ever actor (yes, arguably a notch above even Mohanlal) on screen till date.
Kottarakkara. #OldReels
This day. M. S. Baburaj was born in 1921, and Adoor Bhasi passed away in 1990.
Though Bhasi sang some 20 plus songs in various movies, I think none of them were composed by Baburaj. (Not sure, need to check).

Same day in 1958, a Sunday, this one got released. Based on a novel by Thakazhi, this film #Randidangazhi is special since this marked the entry of P J Antony into films.
(15 years later, he brought home the first ever Bharath award. Nirmalyam. 1973). #PJAntony #Nirmalyam
The man (cricket fans may relate his looks with Pollard!) Sahir seen at extreme left, here with Yash Chopra and Bombay Ravi (another household name here in Kerala).
https://t.co/xH97L3iVXC | The only time Mohammad Rafi sang for a Malayalam movie ever. Kuthiravattam had the luck to enact this dream-sequence song from the 1980 flick Thaliritta Kinakkal too.
23 years today since we lost him.

@preethisadasiv . From a piece by Ravi Menon in his book Anantharam Samgeethamundayi.
Good time to recollect now that #VaniJairam sang most of the songs in #Sankarabharanam. And what she got back was immortal love, and a National Award for the best female playback singer. ❤️🙏
